When visiting Korea, Vietnamese tourists need to pay attention to curfew hours from March 1 to avoid being fined.

Exploring South Korea has become a familiar route for Vietnamese tourists in recent years. However, if you come to Seoul from today (March 1), you must pay attention to the curfew in the Bukchon area to avoid being fined.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government said yesterday (February 28) it will officially implement a policy restricting tourists from visiting the city's historic Bukchon Hanok Village special management area, effective March 1, and begin imposing fines on violators.

Some areas in Seoul are only accessible to tourists between 10am and 5pm.

Under a policy aimed at tackling overtourism, tourists are allowed to visit the special management area of ​​Bukchon, located behind Jeongdok Library between Gyeongbok Palace and Changdeok Palace in central Jongno District, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

According to the Jongno District Office, those entering the so-called “red zone” for tourism purposes outside these hours will be subject to a fine of $67 (equivalent to VND1.8 million).

However, residents registered in the red zone, family, acquaintances, customers of shops in the zone, traders, guests staying in the zone, people just passing through the zone without any tourist activities and vehicles not used for tourist purposes are not subject to fines.

The red zone tourist curfew was introduced on a trial basis last November to prevent various disturbances to the region's residents.

The office explained that regulated tourist activities during curfew hours include taking photos or videos , staying and observing the surroundings, or wandering the streets for tourist purposes regardless of whether or not to use a store.
