The 15-year-old talent, who has yet to finish his GCSEs, had some impressive minutes in the friendly in Asia.
Dowman made history last December when he became the youngest player to feature in Premier League 2 at the age of 14. Due to age restrictions, he was unable to play for the first team last season, but manager Mikel Arteta soon recognised his potential and gave him a chance in pre-season this year.
In the match against AC Milan on July 23, Dowman was brought on in the 65th minute, replacing Bukayo Saka. Immediately, this “prodigy” left his mark with a low shot that missed the post in just the first few minutes of his appearance. He played confidently, moved intelligently and even scored from the penalty spot.
Social media exploded with praise for Dowman: “To see a 15-year-old with this level of confidence is incredible,” wrote one fan. Another asserted: “I’ve seen enough to believe Arsenal have the best academy product in England.”

Another commentator stressed: “Dowman was fearless on the pitch, constantly moving into the middle and always ready to receive the ball. His strength and stamina at his age are amazing.”
Not only fans, but even Declan Rice has had words of praise for his young teammate. In March, Rice affirmed on BBC Radio 5 Live: “Max is the best 15-year-old player in England. He has a long way to go, but with his natural talent and strong family background, Dowman is truly special.”
With a solid performance against a formidable opponent like AC Milan, Max Dowman showed that he is not only a "rough diamond" but also ready to compete for a chance in the first team in the 2025/26 season.
