"Chess Prodigy 2025": An attractive playground for young players

The chessboard used at the tournament was inspired by the historical period of the Trinh-Nguyen conflict.

Chess has long been considered an intellectual sport for adults, and is selective about its players. “Chess Prodigy 2025” has the mission of rejuvenating and making the traditional sport more familiar and attractive to the younger generation.

The Vietnam Chess Federation has coordinated with Vie-X Media and Entertainment Limited Company, Thieu Nien Tien Phong and Nhi Dong Newspaper, and the Vietnam Digital Content Creation Alliance (DCCA) to officially announce the "Chess Prodigy 2025" tournament with many new features in both form and content.

In addition to the competition journey attracting contestants from all over the country, the tournament also incorporates Vietnamese cultural values through the chess set “Rach doi son ha”, recreating the Trinh-Nguyen conflict, inspired by the comic book “Co Chua”. Each move becomes a historical story, helping children play, learn, and nurture national spirit.

The creative highlight of this year's season is the new identity: The official logo is inspired by the Wind Palace and the prayer wheel symbol represents wisdom and patience.

Mascot Pearl – a descendant of the Dragon, has a cheerful and friendly personality, designed to accompany young players throughout the season.

Along with a series of accompanying activities such as the free "Learning Chess with Fun" program for beginners, the workshop "Playing with Grandmasters" from September 22 to October 22, creating a space to interact and meet top chess players.

The tournament will kick off on August 28, 2025 and the official registration portal will open from September 1 to October 26, 2025. The qualifying rounds will take place in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from November 8–16, 2025, before entering the National Finals held over two days, December 6–7, 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City.

In particular, the qualifying round is organized according to the model of Chinese Chess and Culture Festival with many experiential activities such as: Transforming into Vietnamese generals, participating in mini games, interacting with national grandmasters, receiving gifts imbued with Vietnamese culture.

Tournament for players aged 6-15 nationwide.

The prizes are also richly designed to encourage the spirit of competition. In the final round, the champion will be awarded the title of “Chinese Chess Prodigy 2025”, receive a symbolic cup, a certificate from the Vietnam Chinese Chess Federation and 30 million VND in prize money. Second, Third and Fourth prizes will be awarded with prizes along with many scholarships and attractive gifts from sponsors.

With a profound message and a series of attractive, youthful events, the "Chess Prodigy 2025" season is expected to be a launching pad for many young players, while affirming that chess is not only a traditional sport but also a modern, creative playground, inspiring future generations of players.
