Born on the night of April 28, 1975, with just a pencil and a small piece of paper in the Khuong Thuong apartment complex, the song was recorded and first broadcast on Voice of Vietnam Radio at 5:05 p.m. on April 30, 1975, right after the victory news.

Two days later, the Nhan Dan newspaper printed the complete song, opening a journey from the newspaper pages to life, into schoolyards, homes, celebrations, and spreading to the world from Italy, the German Democratic Republic, the Soviet Union to Japan, Czechoslovakia...

For generations , "As if Uncle Ho were present on the day of great victory " has been called "the people's song" because of its simple, easy-to-sing lyrics, yet it touches collective memory and expresses gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh and the generations who sacrificed.

At the award ceremony, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh affirmed that this is "a triumphant anthem of the spirit of great unity and the aspiration for independence." With its heroic melody and lyrics " Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh !" , the song not only became a symbol of national pride but also awakened unwavering will and inspired generations of Vietnamese people about the values ​​of Independence, Freedom, and Happiness.
