Born on the night of April 28, 1975, with just a pencil and a small piece of paper in the Khuong Thuong apartment complex, the song was recorded and first broadcast on Voice of Vietnam Radio at 5:05 p.m. on April 30, 1975, right after the victory news.

Two days later, Nhan Dan Newspaper printed the entire song, opening a journey from the newspaper pages to life, entering schoolyards, homes, celebrations and spreading to the world from Italy, the German Democratic Republic, the Soviet Union to Japan, Czechoslovakia...

Many generations call "As if there was Uncle Ho on the great victory day " "the people's song" because the lyrics are simple and easy to sing, but touch the collective memory, expressing gratitude to Uncle Ho and the generations who sacrificed.

At the award ceremony, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh affirmed that this is “a triumphant song of the spirit of great solidarity and the desire for independence”. With its heroic melody and lyrics “ Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh !” , the song not only becomes a symbol of national pride, but also arouses the indomitable will, inspiring generations of Vietnamese people about the values of Independence - Freedom - Happiness.

Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh shared that the fact that musician Pham Tuyen's family gave this song to Nhan Dan Newspaper was a touching surprise. Nhan Dan Newspaper will be more responsible in preserving and spreading the song in many different forms, so that future generations can always receive this precious heritage.

At the donation ceremony, journalist Pham Hong Tuyen, daughter of musician Pham Tuyen, was moved: “We have a wish: to return the song to a worthy place to preserve and spread. My father always believed that music only truly lives when it belongs to the community. Therefore, donating it to Nhan Dan Newspaper is to continue that spirit, to give it to a public institution, representing the voice of the people, serving the Fatherland, and not for commercial purposes.”

Accepting a song is not only a legal procedure but also a cultural commitment: to keep the song sung at the right time, in the right place, in the right way; to respect the original and historical context; and to find a way to introduce it appropriately to a young audience so that the song continues to live in today's life.
