In early November 2024, the Veterans Association of Ho Do Commune, Loc Ha District (old) - now Tran Phu Ward, together with local people, started building a church for martyr Nguyen Viet Xuan (1949-1973), from Dong Xuan Residential Area. The project is not only a place to commemorate a son who sacrificed his life in the resistance war against the US, but also a symbol of gratitude to the previous generation.

Currently, the church is gradually being completed. Descendants of martyrs and youth union members in the neighborhood are actively cleaning and landscaping, ready for the day the building is officially put into worship.
Mr. Phan Dinh Tung - Secretary of Dong Xuan Youth Union emotionally shared: “In the days of July, when the whole country bows to commemorate the heroic martyrs, contributing to the completion of the church is our way of expressing our deep gratitude to those who sacrificed for the Fatherland. Looking at the portrait of the soldier who sacrificed at a very young age, everyone was moved. This is not only a place to burn incense in memory but also a spiritual support, urging the younger generation to live more responsibly and worthily.”

The Nui Nai Martyrs Cemetery (Thanh Sen Ward) - where more than 1,300 graves of martyrs who died in the resistance wars against France and the US have been gathered - has just completed the comprehensive renovation and restoration work. The project focuses on building new and upgrading many items such as: the backstage, the ceremony house, the memorial, the lighting system, the internal road yard, the lake... Every detail is done with respect, showing the gratitude of today's generation to those who fell for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
After the project is completed, the care and maintenance of the landscape will continue to be maintained regularly. Mr. Le Dang Minh - Manager of Nui Nai Martyrs Cemetery shared: “This is not only a task performed during holidays but also a job that needs to be done throughout the year. Because this is the resting place of heroes and martyrs who devoted their youth to the country. Taking care of each path and each grave is also a way to show gratitude to those who are living today.”

The Martyrs' Temple at Ke Go Lake (Cam Due Commune), after its completion, has become a red address in the journey of gratitude of the Party Committee, government and people in many localities inside and outside the province. In the month of gratitude in July, this place is even more mentioned as a sacred symbol of patriotism and the noble sacrifice of the previous generation.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thu (Nghe An Provincial Police) shared: “Although the road to the temple is still difficult, when I witnessed the solemnity of the construction, I was deeply moved. The stories about the silent sacrifices of the martyrs in this land are profound lessons about patriotism and bravery. Building such a memorial place is not only to show gratitude, but also to contribute to educating the younger generation about the revolutionary tradition of the nation.”

Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung - Director of Ke Go Nature Reserve Management Board said: “We will continue to invest, preserve and take good care of the temple so that it is not only a place of gratitude, but also a place to educate the tradition for future generations, becoming a space where everyone who visits can calm down, contemplate and appreciate the great values of the two words “independence, freedom”…”.
The carefully built, preserved and cared for memorial works are a testament to the deep gratitude of the people of Ha Tinh . Each work is not only a place of remembrance but also a vivid historical lesson, contributing to educating the younger generation about the tradition of patriotism and the great sacrifices of the heroic martyrs who “made the country” today.
