In May, the sun was blazing hot even in the early morning, and our four large-displacement motorcycles struggled to navigate the sandy road.

Nguyen Long, a traveler in the group, said: “Yen Cape is only about four kilometers from the scenic Bau Trang and Trinh Nu sand dunes, but ordinary tourists rarely set foot there, except perhaps for adventurous travelers who like to explore the novelties of nature. This is because reaching Yen Cape requires crossing many sandy slopes and rocky terrain; the vast stretches of sand on both sides of the road extend like a ‘desert,’ and every time the wind blows strongly, it sounds like a whistling flute, and the tiny grains of sand sting the skin…” Meanwhile, elderly fisherman Nguyen Hoa Sanh from Hoa Thang commune, over 70 years old, shared: “Along the coast of Hoa Thang, there are gently sloping hills of various shapes extending hundreds of meters into the sea. In some places, looking down from above, they resemble a giant swallow that has fallen into the ocean. Many strong waves crash against the rocky outcrops, sending up white foam. Over time, the foothills jutting out into the sea have formed strange rock caves. During the dry season, thousands of swallows fly back to build their nests. Therefore, the local people of Hoa Thang call this place Mui Yen (Swallow Cape)…”

Mui Yen and the rocky hills jutting out into the sea are reddish-brown, covered in a green carpet of shrubs and forest grass; between the two hills extending into the sea is a fine white sand beach curving like a bow; the pebble beach with many colors resembles the small pebble beach in Binh Thanh. On a clear day, with golden sunlight spreading across the horizon, Mui Yen looks like a watercolor painting, a vibrant tapestry of nature's colors.

From the summit of Mui Yen (Swallow Cape), looking out towards Mui Ne, we see Hon Rom (Straw Island) towering majestically above the turquoise sea. A local fisherman near Mui Yen said: “Every year in spring, many swallows choose these rocky caves to build their nests and live. On the rocky hills, about 30 meters above sea level, there is abundant vegetation, creating a wild and romantic landscape. During the dry season, the fine white sand beaches interspersed with small, undulating rocks exposed on the sea surface look truly beautiful and captivating. On the hillside, backpackers and photographers often pitch tents and camp overnight to admire the moon hanging over the sea and the sunrise at Mui Yen...”

It can be said that Mui Yen – a beautiful, unspoiled scenic spot – boasts high mountains, white sandy beaches, undulating rocky shores, and colorful pebble beaches, creating a masterpiece of nature. To capitalize on this beauty, a company has registered a large investment to build a resort and eco -tourism complex covering over 100 hectares, but the project has yet to commence. It is hoped that in the not-too-distant future, the scenic Mui Yen, hidden behind the "desert" along the Hoa Thang coast, will be awakened and become an attractive destination.
