Thanh Hoa province holds memorial service and burial for 19 martyrs.

On May 27th, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front solemnly organized a memorial and burial ceremony for 19 martyrs' remains at the Dong Tam International Martyrs' Cemetery in Thiet Ong commune, Thanh Hoa province.

Attending the event were Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Member of the Political Bureau, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, and Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army; Comrades Le Duc Thai, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Thanh Hoa province; Major General Doan Van Buong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Commander of Military Region IV; leaders of several central agencies and Thanh Hoa-Hua Phan province, along with a large number of officers, soldiers, and people from all walks of life.

With the dedicated assistance of the Party Committee, government, and people of Hua Phan province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, during the 2025-2026 dry season, the team responsible for collecting the remains of fallen soldiers under the Thanh Hoa Provincial Military Command made strenuous efforts to overcome all difficulties, searching for, excavating, and collecting 19 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos.

The Special Task Force of Thanh Hoa province and Hua Phan province has completed the relevant procedures, organized the handover and reception, and, together with officials and people of the two provinces, escorted and transported the remains of martyrs back to Vietnam.

On the morning of May 27th, at the Dong Tam International Martyrs' Cemetery, representatives of the Party, State, Military Region IV, leaders of Thanh Hoa-Hua Phan province, along with officers and soldiers of the armed forces, and a large number of officials and people in Thiet Ong commune respectfully laid flowers and incense, held a memorial service, and commemorated the contributions and gratitude of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives while performing noble international duties for the glorious revolutionary cause.

The eulogy delivered by the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa Province, Dau Thanh Tung, emphasized: The heroic sacrifice of the martyrs has made the country blossom with independence, bear the fruits of freedom, bring prosperity and happiness to us today, and contribute to nurturing the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos, Laos and Vietnam, which will forever remain vibrant and enduring. The blood of the martyrs has stained the revolutionary flag of the heroic Vietnamese People's Army and the Lao People's Army with the spirit of decisive victory.

Before the spirits of the heroic martyrs, the Party Committee, government, armed forces, and people of all ethnic groups in Thanh Hoa province pledge to uphold the revolutionary tradition, unite, and build a more prosperous and beautiful Thanh Hoa homeland, worthy of the noble sacrifices of the heroic martyrs; and to continue to promote propaganda and education so that cadres, armed forces, and all strata of people, especially the younger generation, deeply understand the loyal and pure relationship between the two Parties and States of Vietnam and Laos, and between Thanh Hoa and Hua Phan provinces.

Following this, delegates and people from all walks of life carefully moved and buried the remains of the martyrs at the Dong Tam International Martyrs' Cemetery in Thiet Ong commune, a mountainous area in the upper reaches of Thanh Hoa province.
