(Dan Tri Newspaper) - The Standing Committee of the National Assembly has approved a Resolution on the reorganization of commune-level administrative units in Quang Ninh province, including the establishment of Dong Trieu City directly under Quang Ninh province.
On September 28, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly held its 37th session to consider and decide on the rearrangement of district and commune-level administrative units for the period 2023-2025 in several provinces and cities.

Accordingly, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly approved a Resolution on the reorganization of commune-level administrative units in Quang Ninh province, merging Tan Viet commune into Viet Dan commune and Dong Trieu ward into Duc Chinh ward of Dong Trieu town (Quang Ninh province). The wards of Binh Duong, Thuy An, Binh Khe, and Yen Duc were established, and Dong Trieu city was established under Quang Ninh province, based on the current natural area of 395.95 km2 and population of 248,896 people of Dong Trieu town. Dong Trieu city will have 19 subordinate commune-level administrative units, including 13 wards: Duc Chinh, Hung Dao, Xuan Son, Kim Son, Mao Khe, Hong Phong, Trang An, Yen Tho, Hoang Que, Binh Duong, Thuy An, Binh Khe, and Yen Duc; and 6 communes: Nguyen Hue, Viet Dan, An Sinh, Trang Luong, Hong Thai Dong, and Hong Thai Tay. In terms of administrative boundaries, Dong Trieu city is bordered to the east by Uong Bi city; and to the west by Chi Linh city in Hai Duong province. To the south, it borders Kinh Mon town in Hai Duong province and Thuy Nguyen district in Hai Phong city; to the north, it borders Son Dong and Luc Nam districts in Bac Giang province. The establishment of these four wards and the establishment of Dong Trieu City has a positive impact on the shift in economic structure towards increasing the proportion of industry, trade, and services, and gradually reducing the proportion of agriculture. At the same time, this will also promote investment in developing existing potentials and advantages to make the young city of Dong Trieu increasingly prosperous, civilized, and compassionate. Currently, Quang Ninh province has five cities under its direct administration: Ha Long, Cam Pha, Uong Bi, Mong Cai, and Dong Trieu.
