This morning (October 12th), Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport held a ceremony to announce the establishment of the Institute of High-Speed ​​Railways. To date, this is the first university in the transportation sector to establish an Institute of High-Speed ​​Railways.

The Institute of High-Speed ​​Railways is tasked with training in four main areas: high-speed railway construction engineering, high-speed railway mechanics, high-speed railway automatic control and signaling engineering, and high-speed railway transport operation. With a faculty of experienced domestic and international experts, the institute has a strategy to create a service chain that supports the development of the current high-speed railway industry.

Establishing the High-Speed ​​Railway Institute: Investing 50,000 m2 of land for research and training.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Xuan Phuong, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport, observed: "A modern and safe transportation system is the foundation of a prosperous nation. In Conclusion No. 49-KL/TW dated February 28, 2023, on the orientation for the development of railway transport until 2030, with a vision to 2045, the Politburo affirmed that the North-South high-speed railway is the 'backbone' of the transportation system."

According to Associate Professor Phuong, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam recently agreed on the principle of investing in the entire 350km/h North-South high-speed railway project to be submitted to the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly for consideration and decision. This project is not only part of the country's transportation development strategy but also a powerful driving force for a comprehensive transformation in the infrastructure system. This is an opportunity for us to apply the most advanced technologies in practice, in order to keep up with modern transportation trends.

As one of the leading universities specializing in transportation, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Xuan Phuong stated: "Since 2008, Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport has been training in metro railway engineering. From 2023, the university leadership has personally and through numerous delegations traveled to Japan, South Korea, China, and Europe to learn about high-speed rail. This is the most opportune time for the university to begin training in high-speed rail."

The Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport affirmed that the establishment of the High-Speed ​​Railway Institute will undertake the important responsibility of training high-quality human resources for the transportation sector and contribute to the development of the country. "The High-Speed ​​Railway Institute will be a place to nurture talents, those who will shoulder the responsibility of developing modern transportation, helping Vietnam achieve strong progress on the path of integration and development," Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Xuan Phuong expressed his confidence.

Also at the event, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tien Thuy, Acting Chairman of the University Council of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport, presented a symbolic handover of 5 hectares of land at the Dong Nai campus to the Institute of High-Speed ​​Railways for exploitation and use in research and training.
