On June 12, the Ho Chi Minh City Departmentof Education and Training announced the number of candidates registered to take the entrance exam for grade 6 at Tran Dai Nghia Middle and High School, District 1, after the end of the registration period as prescribed (from June 7-11).
Specifically, 4,301 candidates registered to take the entrance exam for grade 6 at this school, while the school only recruited 350 students, a "competition" ratio of up to 1/12.2. Tran Dai Nghia Middle School - High School was established in May 2024, on the basis of separation from Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted.
In accordance with current regulations on the organization of specialized high schools, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted must be reorganized and divided into two schools. Of which, Tran Dai Nghia Middle School - High School will receive non-specialized students and middle school students that Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted has previously recruited and organized to teach; at the same time, recruit new regular grade 10 and grade 6 students from the 2024-2025 school year.
The admission form for grade 6 of this school is similar to that of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted before. Including the time before the school was separated, this is the year with the highest competition rate for grade 6 of the school.
Last year, 4,800 students registered to take the entrance exam to grade 6 at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, with a quota of 525, a ratio of about 1/9. This year's ratio increased due to a significant reduction in enrollment quota (175 quotas reduced).
The 6th grade entrance exam for Tran Dai Nghia Middle School and High School for the 2024-2025 school year will be organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training on July 4, with 7 exam locations.
This survey is for students who have completed the Primary School program in Ho Chi Minh City and have a score of 9 or higher in the final exam of grade 5 in each subject of Vietnamese and Math.
The test consists of two parts: multiple choice and essay. The multiple choice part consists of 20 questions in English about understanding natural sciences , social sciences and applying knowledge to solve practical problems. This part has a time limit of 30 minutes.
In the essay section, candidates will take the test in 60 minutes, including the following contents: English proficiency test (listening, reading, writing), candidates will take the test in English; math and logical thinking ability test, reading comprehension and writing ability, candidates will take the test in Vietnamese. The total time to complete the test is 90 minutes.
The results of the survey are expected to be announced on July 11. Successful students will enroll from July 12-15. Those who are not successful will be considered and assigned to grade 6 at another public school in the area.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Ho Chi Minh City will have about 128,000 students entering grade 6. Currently, there are 6 schools organizing surveys to enroll in grade 6. Of which, the survey of Tran Dai Nghia Middle and High School is designed and organized by the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City; the survey at the remaining schools is conducted by the local Department of Education and Training.
Other secondary schools in Ho Chi Minh City will conduct admission tests, based on students' actual residence to arrange the most convenient study place for them./.
