On the afternoon of June 2, at Rex Hotel, District 1, a press conference was held to announce the Cashless Day 2025 program with the theme "Cashless payment promotes digital economy" under the direction of the State Bank and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
The program is co-organized by the Payment Department - Banking Times and Tuoi Tre Newspaper, in coordination with the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City and the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (Napas).
The event attracted many important guests from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the State Bank, along with representatives of associations and many economic experts. In addition, there were also representatives of banks, payment intermediaries, securities companies, financial technology companies and enterprises in many different business fields with large scale nationwide.
"Cashless payments" will be a forgotten phrase...
Journalist Tran Xuan Toan – Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Newspaper spoke at the press conference. He said that the development of cashless payment methods has contributed to promoting the country's digital economy.
Speaking at the opening of the press conference, Journalist Tran Xuan Toan - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Newspaper - shared the major changes that have taken place during the past 6 years of the Cashless Day (CKTM) event.
Accordingly, in 2019, we have set out 3 pillars for developing non-cash payments (TTKTM), including: state, technology and media. "The statistic that impressed me the most was payment via QR code. In the past 3 years, payment via QR code has increased by over 100% each year, thereby promoting the development of our financial technology industry. That is a small example showing how cashless payment has contributed to promoting the development of the national digital economy...", Mr. Toan gave an example.
Many large-scale activities at the Cashless Payment Festival
Also according to journalist Tran Xuan Toan, the series of activities for Cashless Day 2025 will include 3 main activities. The first activity is the Cashless Payment Festival taking place on June 14 and 15 on a very large scale. It is expected that up to 50,000 viewers will watch both online and offline.
Throughout the two days of the festival, there will be a series of incentive programs for residents, tourists , etc. The second activity is the workshop "Cashless payment promotes digital economy", looking back on the journey of promoting cashless payment over the past 5 years and sharing perspectives for the next stage of development to link cashless payment with digital economic development.
The third activity is to coordinate with the authorities to launch a monthly promotional program to promote cashless payment consumption for people in Ho Chi Minh City...

Journalist Vo Hung Thuat, director of the Media Service Center, Tuoi Tre newspaper, said that this year's Cashless Day program is designed according to 3 main groups of activities (to be carried out continuously from now until September 2025).
The first is a livestream series with the participation of KOLs explaining and providing information about e-commerce in particular and financial consulting in general. Some prominent livestream topics include: How to avoid scams when making digital transactions?; Correctly understand and master credit cards; passive income thanks to digital financial platforms... The livestream series will take place from now until June 16 on online platforms.
The second activity is the workshop "Cashless payment promotes digital economy" taking place on June 14, at Rex Hotel, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. The workshop will have consultations and discussions on the development of Cashless Payment in Vietnam, along with changes in consumer behavior and contributions to the development of the digital economy.

Today's press conference will announce the series of activities for Cashless Day 2025. This is also the starting activity for continuing the journey to promote digital payments in Vietnam.
At the same time, it marks an important milestone in the preliminary review of the implementation process of the "Project on developing non-cash payments for the period 2021-2025", opening up a new direction for the comprehensive digital economic transformation process.

Cashless Day 2025 officially launched with the theme "Cashless payment promotes digital economy", marking the 5-year milestone of implementing the project to develop cashless payment in Vietnam in the period of 2021-2025.
The program is organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper in coordination with the Payment Department - State Bank, Banking Times, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, National Payment Joint Stock Company (Napas) and many other organizations, aiming to raise social awareness, encourage people to access and use modern payment methods such as e-wallets, QR codes, contactless cards, etc., while contributing to building a sustainable cashless ecosystem in Vietnam.
The highlight of this year's event series is the "Ting Ting Day" Festival taking place at Nguyen Hue walking street (HCMC), with activities to experience payment technology, mini games, workshops on safe protection solutions for digital transactions, music nights and launching nationwide promotion programs.
The program is expected to attract 50,000 direct participants, reach about 50 million views through online channels, strongly spread the spirit of digital living and digital consumption in the community, contributing to promoting economic growth.
