Forest's 2025/26 season saw four managerial changes. The team started with high expectations under Nuno Espirito Santo after securing European qualification the previous season. However, the Portuguese strategist left the hot seat before Forest's first European match in over 30 years.
After Nuno Santo's departure, Ange Postecoglou was chosen as his replacement but quickly proved disappointing. The Australian manager went through a run of eight consecutive matches without a win before being sacked.
The third manager to arrive at Forest this season was Sean Dyche. However, after only a short time, he also had to leave as his pragmatic playing style failed to convince the owners.
Ultimately, Vitor Pereira was the one who helped Forest stabilize their situation and successfully avoid relegation. The Portuguese manager even led the club to the Europa League semi-finals, an achievement that exceeded expectations.
Former defender Alan Hutton believes Forest are heading in the right direction and can compete more strongly in the future if they retain their key players. He argues that stability on the coaching staff and the high performance of the core players are crucial factors in the team's development.
However, Forest's ability to retain their key players in this summer transfer window is in doubt. The trio of Morgan Gibbs-White, Murillo, and Elliot Anderson are currently being targeted by several big clubs. These players could bring Forest over £150 million in transfer fees, but would also significantly weaken the team for next season.
