In early September, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper visited Da Bac district – a mountainous area with rugged terrain, sparse population, and many villages and communes isolated by the Hoa Binh reservoir.
According to observations, preparations are underway at schools, with teachers and students cleaning up classrooms in preparation for the new school year and the nationwide event of bringing children to school.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Luyen, Head of the Social Sciences Department at Tu Ly A Primary and Secondary School, said that in preparation for the new school year, the school's staff and teachers have worked together to clean the entire school. To date, preparations for the new school year are complete, and facilities have been improved and classrooms renovated to welcome students back.
Meanwhile, Xa Thi Quynh (7th grade, Tu Ly A Primary and Secondary School) shared: “My classmates and I are very excited about the upcoming school year. We have helped our teachers clean up the school and classrooms to welcome the new school year.”
Speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung, Principal of Da Bac Town Secondary School, informed that, prior to the start of the new school year, the school had consulted with higher authorities to ensure an adequate teaching staff.
At the same time, preparations should be made to ensure adequate facilities, clean up the environment, and replace, supplement, and repair desks and chairs for students to ensure a conducive learning environment.
According to Mr. Trung, the school has completed the enrollment process and began sending students to school on August 29th. Teachers are also having students practice ceremonies and performances in preparation for the opening ceremony, receiving the Emulation Flag from the Prime Minister and the Emulation Flag from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Binh province.
Mr. Do Duc Thanh, Deputy Head of the Education and Training Department of Da Bac district, said that before the new school year began, the unit had requested schools in the area to review their facilities, trim trees in the schoolyards, and clean up classrooms to ensure a green, clean, beautiful, airy, and safe environment to welcome children back to school.
According to Mr. Thanh, preparations for the opening of the 2024-2025 school year are being carried out by units and schools in accordance with the plan and guidelines of the Department of Education and Training.
In addition, the Department of Education and Training has conducted inspections of summer duty arrangements at schools. To date, 100% of schools have ensured safety and security, fire prevention and control, and 100% of administrators, teachers, and staff have completed their summer leave.
"The unit also requested that the opening ceremonies at schools be conducted in a neat, joyful, and absolutely safe manner, without any incidents affecting security, order, or the health of students," Mr. Thanh informed.
According to information from the Department of Education and Training of Da Bac district, the unit currently manages 47 schools with a total of 12,285 students. The entire district has 606 classrooms/598 classes, of which 100% are solid buildings, with no temporary classrooms remaining, and no school is lacking classrooms.
Da Bac district has also invested in upgrading and repairing 29 major projects with a total cost of nearly 70 billion VND, and 10 minor repair projects (4 billion VND) to prepare for the new school year 2024 - 2025.
