Participating in the 2024 Southeast Asian Bodybuilding Championships in Laos with a large team of 21 members, the Vietnamese team won a total of 6 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals on the very first day of competition. Among them, bodybuilder Le Hong Phong (Ho Chi Minh City) successfully defended his title in the men's 60 kg category at the age of 47, and veteran Nguyen Van Quang ( Khanh Hoa ) was unopposed in the 50-60 age group.

Young talents also shone brightly. Ta Phuc Nhat Tan (Ho Chi Minh City) won a "double" gold medal in classic bodybuilding for men up to 1.67m tall and men's fitness. Chau Nguyen Kha (Ho Chi Minh City) won gold in classic bodybuilding for men up to 1.6m tall, and Nguyen Trong Khanh ( Dong Nai ) won gold in men's bodybuilding in the 75kg category.
