Participating in the 2024 Southeast Asian Bodybuilding Championship in Laos with a large squad of 21 members, on the first day of competition, the Vietnamese team brought home a total of 6 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 3 bronze medals. In particular, athlete Le Hong Phong (HCMC) successfully defended the championship title in the men's 60 kg bodybuilding category at the age of 47 and "veteran" Nguyen Van Quang ( Khanh Hoa ) had no opponents in the bodybuilding category for the age group of 50-60.

Young faces also shone. Ta Phuc Nhat Tan (HCMC) won the "double" gold medal in classical bodybuilding for men with a height of up to 1.67 m and men's fitness. Chau Nguyen Kha (HCMC) won the gold medal in classical bodybuilding for men with a height of up to 1.6 m and Nguyen Trong Khanh ( Dong Nai ) won the gold medal in men's bodybuilding in the 75 kg category. The Vietnamese Bodybuilding Team won 9 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals, ranking first overall.
