Like other bank cards, credit cards have a PIN (also known as a password). The PIN is a secret sequence of numbers that helps verify the cardholder and protect financial information. PINs usually consist of 4 or 6 digits, depending on the bank.

Customers receive their initial PIN when they receive their card, and the credit card PIN is required to be set immediately upon registration via Mobile Banking, or it may be included with the card in an envelope or sent via SMS, depending on the regulations of each bank and the time period.

When a PIN needs to be changed, users can do so online through Mobile Banking or directly at the ATMs of the card-issuing bank.

Do you need a PIN to withdraw cash using a credit card?

Withdrawing money using a credit card requires a PIN. To withdraw money using a credit card, customers insert their card into the ATM's card reader slot, then enter their PIN. Customers should cover the PIN keys with their hand while entering the PIN to avoid revealing their password. After that, enter the amount to be withdrawn and confirm. Finally, customers will receive their card and money back from the ATM.

Note: Credit card cash withdrawal fees are relatively high, around 4% of the total transaction amount, with interest rates of approximately 20-30% per year calculated at the time of withdrawal.

Do I need a PIN to pay with a credit card?

When making credit card payments via POS machines and online payments through websites and shopping apps, users do not need to enter a PIN. In this case, instead of a PIN, each payment method will require a different password to verify the cardholder.

With card swiping via POS machine: Customers do not need to enter a PIN; they simply tap or swipe their card on the POS machine, and the transaction is immediately processed. Afterward, the customer signs to confirm the transaction.

For online payments: When paying online on websites and e-commerce apps, customers do not need to enter a PIN; instead, they enter the CVV code. Users select the credit card payment method and enter the card information (including full name, card number, and expiration date) and the CVV code. (The CVV code consists of 3 numbers printed on the front or back of the credit card, depending on the bank).
