According to DigiTimes , the development of the foldable iPhone entered the first prototype manufacturing stage (Prototype 1) last month. This is an important initial step, creating a fully functional device.
If progress goes well, Apple could complete prototype testing by the end of 2025, then move on to the Engineering Verification Test (EVT) phase.
However, this process is still in its very early stages. After the first prototype, Apple will continue to develop two more prototypes before entering the EVT phase, which determines the final design for production.
Each prototyping phase is expected to take about two months, during which Apple’s supply chain partners will conduct testing, then hand over assembly to units like Foxconn and Pegatron to confirm manufacturing capabilities and productivity.

In terms of design, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that the crease on the iPhone Fold's screen will almost disappear. Apple is said to use a special metal frame that helps disperse pressure when the screen bends, thereby minimizing the impact that causes the crease.
According to Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the foldable iPhone will be equipped with a dual 48MP camera cluster. Experts believe that the second lens is likely to be an ultra-wide-angle lens, instead of a telephoto lens, due to space constraints inside the foldable device.
As for the selfie camera, Ming-Chi Kuo said the foldable iPhone will integrate an under-display camera for the inner display, while the outer display (when folded) will use a traditional hole-punch design.
