According to DigiTimes , the development of a foldable iPhone entered its first prototype (Prototype 1) phase last month. This is a crucial first step in creating a fully functional device.

If all goes well, Apple could complete prototype testing by the end of 2025, then move on to the Engineering Verification Testing (EVT) phase.

However, this process is still in its very early stages. After the first prototype, Apple will develop two more prototypes before entering the EVT phase, which aims to determine the final design for production.

Each prototyping phase is expected to last approximately two months. During this time, Apple's supply chain partners will conduct testing, then hand over assembly to companies like Foxconn and Pegatron to verify production capabilities and productivity.

In terms of design, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that the crease on the iPhone Fold's screen will almost disappear. Apple is expected to use a special metal frame that helps distribute the pressure when the screen bends, thereby minimizing the impact that causes the crease.

According to Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the foldable iPhone will be equipped with a dual 48MP camera system. Experts believe the second lens is likely to be an ultra-wide-angle lens, rather than a telephoto lens, due to space limitations inside the foldable device.

Regarding the selfie camera, Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the foldable iPhone will integrate an under-display camera for the inner screen, while the outer screen (when folded) will use a traditional punch-hole design.
