(HG) - Mr. Nguyen Van Kiet, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Chau Thanh district, informed that in the early morning of May 25, a serious landslide occurred on the canal bank in the district.
A landslide broke a section of the concrete road on the morning of May 25.
The landslide occurred at 3 a.m. at Mrs. Ngo Thi Sau's house in Mai Dam canal, Phu Loi hamlet, Phu Huu commune, with a length of more than 30m, 9m deep into the bank, the land area lost was more than 270m2, and the concrete road was 2m wide. Since the beginning of the year, in Chau Thanh district, there have been 23 landslides on the canal bank, with a total landslide length of more than 480m; land loss area of more than 2,510m2; estimated damage of nearly 1.1 billion VND.
Mr. Nguyen Van Kiet, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Chau Thanh district, said that fortunately, the recent landslides did not cause any human casualties. Immediately after the incident, the District Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue coordinated with local authorities to arrive at the scene, mobilize local forces to put up signs to stop all vehicles from traveling to avoid further damage, and at the same time support people to overcome the consequences caused by the landslide.
