Predicting 2024 university benchmark scores for Social Sciences
From July 18 to 5:00 p.m. on July 30, candidates nationwide will officially register their university admission wishes. This is a thrilling period for candidates because according to predictions, the 2024 university admission scores for many social sciences majors, which were already high, may be higher this year than in 2023.
Regarding the prediction of university admission scores in 2024 for the Social Sciences, sharing with reporters of Dan Viet newspaper, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, said that in 2024, the average scores of all high school graduation exams will be slightly higher than in 2023.
For example, the average score for Literature is 7.23, the average score for Math is 6.45, the score for Foreign Language is 5.51 (compared to 6.86, 6.25 and 5.45 in 2023), the average score for History and Geography both tend to increase compared to 2023 from 0.5 to 1 point. Only the average score for CivicEducation has decreased slightly, from 8.29 to 8.16.

However, this year, the total enrollment target of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities increased by 115% compared to 2023. At the same time, for some majors that attract great social demand such as Journalism, Psychology, International Studies, Hotel Management, Tourism and Travel Services Management, etc., the school has a quota exceeding 130% compared to 2023. In addition, of the 6 admission methods, the school reserves more than 50% for the high school admission method.
Therefore, the benchmark scores of the school's majors will basically remain stable and may increase slightly compared to 2023."
In 2023, the majors with the highest benchmark scores of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities are Journalism, Oriental Studies, Korean Studies, Public Relations, Psychology... These are majors with benchmark scores for block C above 28 points, even reaching nearly 30 points in some years.
Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong also noted: "According to the Regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, candidates are allowed to register unlimited wishes and schools will only consider based on the candidates' scores. That is, candidates should arrange the order of wishes on the Ministry's Admissions Portal in order of their passion and favorite subjects and schools. Choose the first wish as the subjects you love the most. If you fail the first wish, the universities will still consider the next wishes fairly with all other candidates with the same score threshold (even if the order of each candidate's wishes is different).
In addition, one of the advantages of students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is that they can study two training programs at the same time to graduate with two regular university degrees after about 5 years of study. Students of the school can register to study any of the 26 undergraduate training programs of the school, after completing at least 2 semesters of the first training program and having an average score of good or higher. This is also a practical direction for students to reach their desired study destination when their exam scores do not meet the entrance standards of the study program at the time of admission.
The benchmark scores of many social sciences majors increased by 1-2 points.
Sharing about the predicted 2024 university benchmark scores for the Social Sciences sector, Master of Laws Trinh Huu Chung, Vice Principal of Gia Dinh University said: "More than 670,000 out of about one million candidates registering for the 2024 high school graduation exam chose the Social Sciences exam, accounting for 63%, the highest rate in the past 7 years. This shows that universities that train and recruit majors in the Social Sciences sector will have many opportunities to recruit students.
It is expected that the admission score for the Social Science group in 2024 will increase, depending on the major and the competition rate at the schools. For Gia Dinh University, we will consider admission for majors in the Social Science field such as: Law, Economic Law, Oriental Studies, English Language, Public Relations, Multimedia Communications, Communication Technology, which will increase by 1-2 points compared to 2023 (admission by High School Transcript: 15.5-17 points, admission by High School Exam results is 15-16 points) depending on the admission method to the school this year".

Dr. Le Thi Thuy Vinh, Faculty of Literature, Hanoi National University of Education 2, commented: "Regarding the exam groups with Literature, I think the standard score will increase slightly from 0.5 to 1 point. This is because this year's Literature exam is quite suitable for candidates, without many surprising factors.
For top schools, the benchmark scores for block C and block D will be 0.5 to 1 point higher than last year. For good schools, the scores will be the same or not much higher than last year, fluctuating around 1 point. For lower-ranked schools, I think the benchmark scores will remain the same.
For schools in the Pedagogical sector, the scores for groups C and D will still be as high as or higher than last year, with an estimated score of 8.5-9/subject for candidates to have a chance of being admitted.
From July 18, candidates can register their admission wishes on the Ministry's common system and adjust their wishes an unlimited number of times until 5:00 p.m. on July 30.
From July 31 to 5:00 p.m. August 6, candidates pay admission fees online.
No later than July 21, the Ministry of Education and Training will announce the threshold to ensure input quality (floor score) for health and education sectors, then process candidates' admission requests from August 13 to 5:00 p.m. on August 17.
Before 5:00 p.m. on August 19, standard scores will be announced.
Before 5:00 p.m. on August 19, schools must announce the benchmark scores and notify candidates admitted in the first round.
By 5:00 p.m. on August 27, candidates completed the first round of online admission confirmation on the system.
From August 28, training institutions will announce additional enrollment.
