On October 6th, at the opening ceremony of the 18th career guidance program "Choosing Your Future Career" for the 2025-2026 academic year, themed "Gen Z - Choosing a Career in the AI Era," journalist Nguyen Thanh Tu, Editor-in-Chief of the Ho Chi Minh City Education Magazine, affirmed that many students and parents still lack accurate information about academic fields.

The opening ceremony of the 18th Career Guidance Program, "Choosing Your Future Career," for the 2025-2026 academic year, took place at Hoang Hoa Tham High School (Gia Dinh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).

Nguyen Pham Nhu Y, a 10th-grade student at Hoang Hoa Tham High School, received guidance from a lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology on using artificial intelligence (AI) in her studies.

After receiving instructions, Nhu Y asked to take photos with everyone to preserve the memory.

According to journalist Thanh Tú, some "hot" academic fields have been hyped up, leaving students and parents confused about the values ( economic , ethical, status, honor) associated with the work, creating heavy pressure on students' studies.

"Every year, more than 1 million high school students nationwide enter universities and colleges. However, sadly, many students still choose the wrong major, drop out midway, or put their university dreams on hold; many students want to retake the university entrance exam the following year. This leads to thousands of graduates being unemployed after graduation..." - Mr. Tu said.

Ms. Truong Hai Thanh, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, stated that the 2018 General Education Program is becoming more in-depth, coupled with the explosion of artificial intelligence (AI). Therefore, providing accurate and timely career guidance has become more urgent than ever.

"Following the administrative reorganization with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces, Ho Chi Minh City has opened up many opportunities for remarkable development. In particular, it focuses on developing eight key industries to create a high-quality workforce. This is an important guiding principle for students when deciding on their career paths, contributing to building a civilized Ho Chi Minh City," Ms. Thanh expressed.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City hopes that with close cooperation and dedication, the program will bring many practical values, helping students gain enough knowledge and confidence to choose a successful career for the future.

Ms. Truong Hai Thanh, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, emphasized the crucial role of career guidance in education.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Ky, Head of Professional Affairs Department, Southern Education Development Center - Ministry of Education and Training, shared an overview of career paths in the digital age.

Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Vocational Education Association, outlined 10 trending occupational groups that attract high demand for specialized human resources in the digital age.

Students submit questions for experts to answer.

The 18th Career Guidance Program, "Choosing Your Future Career," for the 2025-2026 academic year, themed "Gen Z - Choosing a Career in the AI Era," is jointly organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Education Magazine, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, and the Southern Education Development Center - Ministry of Education and Training.
