According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 6:00 a.m. on August 25, the center of storm No. 5 was located at about 18.3 degrees north latitude; 107.4 degrees east longitude, about 185 km east southeast of Nghe An, about 165 km east of Ha Tinh , and about 160 km east northeast of Quang Tri. The strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 14 (150-166 km/h), gusting to level 17. It is forecasted that in the next 3 hours, the storm will move west northwest, at a speed of about 15-20 km/h.

Hanoi area has moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain. Ho Chi Minh City has showers and thunderstorms in some places, especially in the afternoon and evening there are showers and scattered thunderstorms, locally heavy rain.

At sea, at Bach Long Vy station, there were strong winds of level 6, gusting to level 9, at Co To station, there were gusts of level 8, at Phu Quy station, there were strong southwest winds of level 6, gusting to level 7, at Hoanh Son and Con Co stations, there were gusts of level 8, at Truong Sa station, there were gusts of level 7, at Ly Son station, there were gusts of level 6.
