On May 23rd, PewDiePie surprised the global YouTube community by announcing he would be ending his family vlog series, which had been running for almost four years.
This decision quickly attracted attention, as it's a series documenting his everyday life with his wife Marzia Kjellberg and son Bjorn in Japan, a period that many viewers consider the most peaceful and mature in the famous YouTuber's career.
According to the Times of India , PewDiePie stated that the biggest reason he ended the vlog series was to protect his son's privacy as he grew older.
In a video titled "Ending the vlogs," posted on May 23rd, Felix Kjellberg shared that Bjorn is now 3 years old and he feels it's the right time to stop frequently featuring his son on social media. The YouTuber said he wants his son's public appearances to be a choice for him in the future, rather than being decided from a young age.
PewDiePie also admitted that family vlogs are gradually creating pressure as private life becomes public content. While he and his wife may still share some everyday moments or family photos in the future, they no longer want to maintain a regular vlog posting schedule revolving around their son and personal lives.

PewDiePie initially created vlogs to document his move to Japan in 2022. However, over time, the content gradually changed, focusing more on family life after his son was born in 2023. The lighthearted videos about childcare, cooking, traveling , and exploring Japan have helped PewDiePie maintain a stable viewership, even though he is no longer as active as he was during his peak YouTube career.
On Reddit and many other social media forums, the majority of fans were shocked but also expressed support for PewDiePie's decision.
Many believe this is a reasonable choice given the growing controversy surrounding "family vlogs," a type of content that documents family life and young children for social media. Some users commented that allowing children to constantly appear before millions of viewers could affect their privacy and childhood later in life.
Felix Kjellberg, born in 1989 in Sweden, was once the world's most followed individual YouTuber with over 110 million subscribers. He is famous for his gaming videos, reaction videos, and humorous commentary.
However, in recent years, PewDiePie has consistently reduced the frequency of his content posts, repeatedly stating that he wants to prioritize his personal life over the pressure of constantly creating content on the internet.
