Latest news on Korean singer's death at home at age 25

On the night of April 19, Yonhap News and a series of Korean newspapers reported that male idol Moonbin (Astro) passed away at the age of 25.

His body was discovered by his manager at 8:10 p.m. on April 19 (local time). Immediately after that, the manager reported the incident to the Gangnam Police Station, Seoul.

Based on the evidence at the scene, Moonbin's cause of death is suspected to be suicide. Police are still investigating further and waiting for the autopsy report to come to an accurate conclusion about the Korean idol's passing.

On the morning of April 20, Moonbin's management company confirmed the singer's death. The company also said that the family's wish was to hold a quiet funeral with only relatives and company employees attending.

The singer's funeral will take place at the funeral home of Asan Hospital, Seoul. The specific time has not been announced yet.

"On April 19, Astro member Moonbin suddenly left us and became a star in the sky.

"Although it cannot compare to the pain of the bereaved family who lost their beloved son and brother, the Astro members, as well as our Fantagio artists and executives, are mourning the deceased with great sadness and shock," Fantagio's statement read.

Astro has not yet made any statement about the incident. However, Allkpop said that Astro members were shocked and heartbroken by Moonbin's passing. It is known that member Cha Eun Woo, who is in the US, booked a flight back to Korea immediately.

Moonbin was born in 1998. He is one of the most notable members of the Astro group. The group debuted in 2016 and has been together for more than 7 years.

Moonbin holds the position of main dancer. He is considered to have dancing skills and ability to remember movements that are not inferior to professional dancers.

Before debuting as a singer with Astro, Moonbin acted as "young Yunho" in DBSK's MV Balloons.

In 2009, he also appeared in the famous SBS drama "Boys Over Flower" (Vietnamese title: "Meteor Garden") as a young master So Yijeong (Kim Bum's character).
