YouTube finally lets you turn off those pop-ups full of suggestions that appear at the end of videos . Now, when you encounter an end screen, you can select a new "hide" button in the top-right corner of the video so you can continue watching without distraction.

The suggestions that often cover up content at the end of the video are extremely annoying.
YouTube says it's making this change in response to feedback that viewers want to be able to "focus on what they're watching." I've probably tried to hide these screens at some point, as they sometimes block out the bottom of the video I'm trying to watch, making it difficult to see what's going on.
YouTube notes that when you select "hide," it only applies to the video you're watching — not all videos on the platform. That means it's not a setting that can turn them off...forever. You can also bring back end screens by selecting "show."

YouTube found that this didn't significantly impact creators' views when testing the feature, as the "hide" button only reduced views coming from end screen clicks by 1.5%.
Conversely, those suggestions have for years had no impact on the user's decision to choose the next content to watch.
In addition to this change, YouTube will also remove the "Subscribe" button that appears when you hover over a channel's watermark on desktop. YouTube says this will "simplify and improve the viewing experience," as the platform already displays the "Subscribe" button right below the video.
Neither of these updates affect how creators create videos, as they can continue to add end screens and watermarks.
