The Nepalese goalkeeper has a very unusual warm-up routine.

TPO - On the afternoon of January 13th, after the Vietnamese national team's training session, the Nepalese national team began their training at their "home" stadium, Thong Nhat. Goalkeeper and captain Chamjong performed an unconventional warm-up by hanging upside down from the crossbar.

Nepal's coach, Matthew Ross, confidently stated that if no players receive red cards in tomorrow night's match against Vietnam (October 14th), Nepal will secure a point. In the match on October 9th, Nepal had a player sent off at the end of the first half, when the score was 1-1. Only after being reduced to ten men did Nepal concede two more goals, ultimately losing 1-3.

Interestingly, coach Matthew Ross is hoping for rain in tomorrow's match at Thong Nhat Stadium. According to the Australian coach, rain would be beneficial for the Nepal team.

Coach Matthew Ross shared: “Nepal has just experienced heavy rain. Before coming to Vietnam, we also played in Bangladesh under unfavorable weather conditions. One of my players is playing in the Bangladesh league, and they are used to playing in the rain.” “I can also say that the pitches in Bangladesh are not as good as those in Vietnam, so we won't have any problems playing in the rain on the relatively good pitch in Ho Chi Minh City. In fact, for the Nepal team, the heavier the rain, the better; it's advantageous for us,” Coach Matthew Ross affirmed.

Next came the grappling drills. Perhaps the Nepal coach was preparing for a fair match against the Vietnamese team.

Air combat drills were conducted at the beginning of the session.

Responding to a reporter's question about whether Nepal could earn points against Vietnam if both teams played with the same 11 players from start to finish tomorrow's match, coach Matthew Ross affirmed: "I believe that if we play with a full squad, we can do it and get points in tomorrow's match."

"However, our current problem is the players' fitness and recovery ability. I've mentioned before that my players weren't in their best form before coming to Vietnam for the two Asian Cup qualifying matches. Right now, my priority is helping the young players recover before tomorrow's match," coach Matthew Ross analyzed.

Nepal's captain and goalkeeper Chamjong confidently stated: "I know the Vietnamese players have some very good crossers. They delivered many quality crosses on October 9th, but I think I also did my part well in blocking most of those crosses."

"I'm not too worried about the Vietnamese players claiming they'll score many goals against me. I'll still focus on doing my job and won't pay too much attention to the weather," goalkeeper Chamjong added.

Another important detail revealed by coach Matthew Ross regarding Nepal's approach to Vietnam's goal is their exploitation of set pieces. In the first leg, Nepal scored against goalkeeper Dang Van Lam using this method.

Matthew Ross shared: “We will still practice set pieces. My players are fast and strong, and that will be one of the options for the Nepal team to approach the Vietnamese goal.” The match between the Vietnam and Nepal teams will take place at 7:30 PM tomorrow (October 14th) at Thong Nhat Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City).
