Sadly, despite knowing this, the local authorities have yet to implement a thorough solution! On average, the Urology and Dialysis Center at Bach Mai Hospital receives 30-40 new patients daily. Notably, among the hospitalized patients, there are increasingly more people under 30 years old. According to Mr. Bui Van Cu – Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Nhon town (Binh Dinh), following the unusual death of hundreds of chrysanthemum pots prepared for Tet sales by a household in the area, the People's Committee of the town directed relevant agencies to investigate and verify the incident. Kumquat growers in Cam Ha are happy because this year's kumquat prices are stable, and traders have bought almost all of them.

Cam Ha commune is considered the locality with the most households growing ornamental kumquat trees, offering a variety from large trees to miniature potted plants at reasonable prices. According to statistics from the Cam Ha Commune People's Committee, this year alone, the commune has supplied over 70,000 potted ornamental kumquat trees of various types to markets inside and outside the province, mainly to Da Nang , Binh Dinh, and Quang Ngai...

According to reports, for more than half a month now, traders from various places have been coming to place orders for kumquat trees from garden owners. According to local residents, traders usually finalize orders by the garden. This means that after finding a suitable tree, the buyer will place a deposit to purchase the entire garden at the negotiated price. To date, over 80% of the kumquat trees in Hoi An have been ordered, with the remaining trees being sold by locals in their gardens or along main roads.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong, one of the long-time kumquat growers in Cam Ha, said that by this time, traders had already ordered all of his family's nearly 1,500 kumquat trees. Prices this year are stable, ranging from 500,000 to 2.5 million VND per tree, depending on size and beauty.

"After deducting expenses, the family makes a profit of about 300-400 million VND. The family is very happy because this year traders came to place orders early, and now we are just waiting for them to come and pick them up for sale," Mr. Cuong said.

According to the orchard owners, kumquat trees in Cam Ha are grown from seedlings in the fields, then around September or October they are moved to the orchards and placed in pots for continued care. After that, processes such as removing diseased leaves, watering, and other specialized techniques are applied to ensure the trees produce large, abundant fruit with a beautiful golden color. Pots with evenly sized, beautiful, and attractively shaped fruit are usually more popular with buyers and command a slightly higher price.

Besides large kumquat trees, many households in Cam Ha also grow mini kumquat trees to meet the tastes of many customers. Compared to large kumquat trees, mini kumquat trees are sold at a lower price and are often used to decorate tables or cabinets, adding a touch of spring to the home.

"The price of each mini kumquat tree ranges from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dong, usually fluctuating between 50,000 and 300,000 dong per pot. This provides people with additional income and gives customers more choices," added Mr. Nguyen Tuan (Cam Ha).

Late last year, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province recognized the cultivation of kumquats in Cam Ha as a traditional occupation. This was a great joy for the people of Cam Ha and kumquat growers in Hoi An city. The recognition of this traditional occupation provides additional support for people to confidently develop their craft; it also creates opportunities to increase income for kumquat growers through various farming models and tourism potential.

According to Mr. Mai Thanh Hung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cam Ha commune, during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, the entire commune has about 350 households growing kumquats, with approximately 71,000 pots of various types. To date, traders have already placed deposits for over 80% of the kumquat trees. It is estimated that if all the pots of kumquats are sold during this year's Lunar New Year, the local people will earn over 42 billion VND.

In order to promote and introduce the image of Hoi An kumquat trees to people inside and outside the province, the People's Committee of the commune recently coordinated with relevant agencies and local people to organize the 9th Kumquat Tree Festival in 2025.

"This is an opportunity to honor the cultural identity of traditional craft villages, create conditions for farmers and artisans to interact; and at the same time, organize the display of beautiful and unique kumquat trees, gradually expanding the market and creating more unique tourism products for the locality," Mr. Hung said.
