In a friendly atmosphere, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed their delight at the results of the very successful phone call on August 14 between General Secretary To Lam and President of the Cambodian People’s Party and President of the Cambodian Senate Hun Sen. The two Prime Ministers affirmed that they will promote the effective implementation of the opinions agreed upon by the leaders of the two parties.
The two Prime Ministers informed each other about the situation in each country and agreed on key directions to further deepen cooperation between the two countries in the coming time, especially in the fields of connectivity, trade and investment.
The two Prime Ministers expressed their delight at the important results achieved at the high-level meeting between the two Parties and the high-level meeting between the three heads of the three Parties as well as the three Prime Ministers of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos in February this year.
The two leaders agreed to continue strengthening political trust and promoting cooperation mechanisms under the motto of good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability.
The two sides agreed to continue to improve the effectiveness of economic cooperation in the spirit of “harmonious benefits and shared risks”, bringing bilateral trade turnover to soon reach the target of 20 billion USD; promoting local connectivity in a practical and effective manner; developing border gate economy, facilitating cross-border trade and investment, and continuing to negotiate and resolve remaining problems related to border demarcation and marker planting.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh was pleased to see that after two years as head of the Royal Government, Prime Minister Hun Manet has promoted infrastructure development, the economy has grown positively, and the lives of Cambodian people have been increasingly improved.
He also suggested that the Cambodian side continue to pay attention to and facilitate naturalization for eligible Vietnamese people, as well as create conditions for Vietnamese people to stabilize their lives, integrate and make positive contributions to Cambodian society.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked the Cambodian side to create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to operate stably and expand investment in Cambodia.
Regarding the international and regional situation, the two Prime Ministers exchanged and shared views on issues of mutual concern.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam supports efforts to peacefully resolve all disputes in accordance with international law and practice.
Vietnam will continue to work with ASEAN member countries to promote the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on July 28 to promote ASEAN's central role for peace, cooperation and development in the region.
