The World Economic Forum (WEF) is one of the most prestigious global forums, attracting the attention and participation of most world leaders, international organizations, and leading corporations and companies. Vietnam and the WEF have had a relationship since 1989. The WEF often invites Vietnam to attend its annual conferences in Davos and its East Asia conferences.
In June 2023, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the Vietnam-WEF National Strategic Dialogue in Tianjin, China, with Chairman Schwab and Borge Brende, Managing Director of the WEF.
The Prime Minister requested that the WEF and its members continue to cooperate with and support Vietnam in technology, finance, training high-quality human resources, and modern governance. WEF leaders and business representatives acknowledged that Vietnam is one of the bright spots in the region's economic recovery, a successful model in pandemic control, and plays a pioneering role in transforming its growth model and committing to energy transition.
During their most recent meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia in September 2023, Chairman Schwab highly appreciated Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements, especially its comprehensive approach to macroeconomic management, which has helped the economy overcome the challenges of the current international and regional context.
