During the official visit to Vietnam from June 3 to 4, after the official welcoming ceremony, talks and a joint press conference, at noon on June 4 in Hanoi , Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and exchanged with the Australian and Vietnamese women's football teams. The two teams will participate in the upcoming 2023 Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
During their visit to Vietnam, the Australian U20 women's football team had a training session with Vietnamese female players before participating in the 2024 AFC Women's Asian Cup qualifiers. The training session was also attended by young girls from the Hanoi University (HANU) women's football team and the Hanoi U17 women's football team, along with a number of other units, to promote the power of sports in changing the lives of children and women. After this event, the Vietnamese female players will go to Germany for training, preparing for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, which will take place from July 20 to August 20, in Australia and New Zealand.
The Australian women's football team is a strong team, ranked 10th in the world by FIFA, ranked 4th and has participated in the Women's World Cup 8 times, reaching the quarterfinals 3 times. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese women's national football team has made remarkable and rapid progress, setting a record of 4 consecutive SEA Games championships, and has the honor of becoming one of the Asian representatives to participate in the 2023 World Cup.
Meeting and encouraging the female players, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese emphasized the important role of sports in empowering women and girls to realize their full potential.
