Prime Minister receives Chinese COMAC Aircraft Corporation, proposes to expand flight routes

On the afternoon of April 14, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Ha Dong Phong, Chairman of the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC).

Welcoming Chairman Ha Dong Phong and leaders of COMAC Group to visit Vietnam on the occasion of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping's visit to Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that during General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping's visit to Vietnam, the two sides will discuss many important issues for the future development of the two countries and bilateral relations, and sign many important documents, including cooperation in the aviation sector.

Ready to facilitate flight operations

The Prime Minister expressed his encouragement for large enterprises, representing high levels of Chinese science and technology, to participate in new investments and expand investment in the fields of transport infrastructure in Vietnam, including aviation.

On that basis, the Vietnamese Government and relevant ministries and branches are ready to facilitate airlines in the process of organizing and exploiting flights between Vietnam and other countries, contributing to the development of trade, tourism, and socio-economics.

Welcoming and appreciating the close and effective cooperation between COMAC Group and Vietjet Air in recent times, the Prime Minister said that this cooperation and contribution still has much potential for development; as well as the possibility of expanding cooperation between COMAC and other airlines and partners of Vietnam in the future.

Accordingly, he proposed that COMAC cooperate and support Vietnamese partners in developing aircraft fleets, expanding flight routes; moving towards producing components, manufacturing aircraft, developing the aviation ecosystem and aviation economy.

At the same time, participate in training high-quality human resources and exploiting Vietnam's space. Cooperate with partners to invest in aircraft warranty, maintenance and repair centers in Vietnam to contribute to promoting the Vietnam - China relationship to develop more practically, effectively and in depth.

Towards the development of aviation industry

In response, COMAC Group Chairman Ha Dong Phong highly appreciated Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's important contributions in fostering Vietnam - China relations, creating conditions for COMAC's cooperative relationship with Vietnamese partners.

COMAC Chairman believes that the vitality and atmosphere of striving to rise up are taking place throughout Vietnam under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the administration of the Government; he believes that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnam will develop more and more strongly.

Sharing about the formation and development process of COMAC, COMAC Chairman Ha Dong Phong said that after only 17 years, COMAC has become a large and prestigious aircraft manufacturer.

Accordingly, he affirmed that he would strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese partners according to the Prime Minister's opinion. The Chairman of COMAC hopes that the Prime Minister will regularly pay attention to, support and direct Vietnamese partners to expand the scale of cooperation with COMAC, not only developing air transport but also aiming at developing the aviation industry in Vietnam.
