Stemming from the desire to spread the passion for reading to students, especially when they are living among countless temptations from phones, computers, social networks..., teacher Dinh Thi Tuyet Bong, Dong My Primary School, Dong Hoi Ward, Quang Tri Province, had the initiative to read books with students via Zoom.
For the past two months, at 5:30 every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning, she and the students of class 4D, Dong My Primary School read books together. A seemingly small act but it sows the seeds of great things!
To help children come to books naturally and without pressure, she always prepares carefully from choosing books suitable for their interests and age, discussing characters and stories, helping children read books in a lively, gentle and inspiring way.
“I was quite surprised when the children woke up on time to participate with great attention and enthusiasm. That made me very happy, touched and wanted to bring more stories to them. Through the reading sessions, not only did it help the children love books more, but I also felt like I was reliving my childhood. Not only did we read books together, we also shared many stories, thoughts and knowledge about life!”, said teacher Dinh Thi Tuyet Bong.
Reading sessions are not only a time to practice skills, but also contribute to strengthening the relationship between teachers and students, family and school. The boys and girls are at the age of eating and sleeping and living among many forms of entertainment on electronic devices and social networks, but they choose to wake up very early to read books with their teachers. Their parents also accompany their children, encourage them to wake up early, listen to their teachers' stories, share their joy when their children are excited about a new book, and are happy when their love for books is growing...
Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Quyen, Dong Thuan Ward, confided: When I heard my child register for Ms. Bong's reading class, I didn't dare believe that he would be able to maintain it for long. However, I was surprised that in the past two months, he hasn't missed a single class. Every night, before going to bed, he carefully sets the alarm clock and wakes up with great excitement.
My family is really happy with the positive changes in my child. We are really grateful to the teacher and hope that this initiative will continue to be expanded, so that more and more children will love reading, which is something every family wants for their children!
With the guidance of the teacher and the companionship and encouragement of their parents, the children have looked forward to reading sessions with joy and excitement. For Nguyen Phuc Nguyen, a student of class 4D, Dong My Primary School, those mornings are not only a new habit, but also a time he always looks forward to. “What I like most is reading stories with my teacher and friends. Sometimes I even wake up before the alarm clock. Reading books is so much fun, I also learn many interesting things!”, Phuc Nguyen happily shared.
From the pure joy of the students and the trusting companionship of parents, the book reading model via Zoom by teacher Dinh Thi Tuyet Bong has spread positive effects, touching the hearts of many people.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thai Hang, Vice Principal of Dong My Primary School, shared: “We truly appreciate Ms. Bong’s enthusiasm and meaningful initiative. This is not only a reading activity, but also a way to sow seeds of love and good habits for children from the simplest things. The school will continue to encourage and create conditions for teachers to replicate this model, helping students have more opportunities to engage in and love reading in a more interesting and natural way."
Through mornings of reading together, teacher Dinh Thi Tuyet Bong has planted beautiful seeds in the children's souls, awakening a love for books, knowledge and kindness. Each morning of the children becomes more beautiful and useful through the journey of making friends with books, contributing to nurturing their souls, dreams and hopes.
