The Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - India Friendship Association of the city presented gifts to the delegation of the Indian Embassy in Vietnam.
At the reception, Vice President of the City Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen gave general information about Da Nang city, the city's advantages and potentials.
There are currently 5 FDI projects from India in the city, with a total investment of nearly 15 million USD. When the city's tourism recovered after the COVID-19 pandemic, the first direct flight from Da Nang to India was put into operation (3 direct flights from India to Da Nang, including New Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad), contributing to promoting cooperation in tourism and trade development between the two sides.
Da Nang is chosen as the top destination for Indian tourists. In 2023, the Indian market ranked 4th in the Top 10 international tourist markets, after Korea, Thailand and China. The total number of Indian visitors to Da Nang in 2023 reached more than 87,000, an increase of more than 5 times compared to 2019. With the number of Indian visitors to Da Nang reaching 60% of the total number of Indian visitors to Vietnam, Da Nang is considered a destination not to be missed on the journey to Vietnam.
Dr. Monica Sharma, Director of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center under the Embassy of India in Vietnam, acknowledged the achievements in tourism and trade cooperation between Da Nang and India, especially the Da Nang International Yoga Festival and some people-to-people diplomacy activities in recent times. Dr. Monica Sharma expressed her desire to promote cultural, sports, tourism exchanges... to contribute to developing the traditional friendly relationship between India and Vietnam.
At the meeting, the two sides exchanged information on the planned International Yoga Performance - Da Nang 2024 on June 16 and the discussion program on the value of yoga in Vietnam - India relations in Da Nang. At the same time, Vice President of the Union of Friendship Organizations, Vice President of the Vietnam - India Friendship Association of the city Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen suggested that the Indian Cultural Center pay attention to providing a number of ITEC scholarships of the Indian Government for universities and civil servants, as well as coordinate in organizing cultural exchange activities between Vietnam and India in 2024 in Da Nang.
