The summary report at the Congress showed that over the past 5 years, under the direction of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), thoroughly understanding the importance of people's diplomacy, with the enthusiastic participation in the Association's work of the majority of Executive Committee members and a large number of members, the Vietnam-Slovakia Friendship Association has actively implemented many practical and diverse activities.

The Association also pays special attention to building and strengthening good and regular cooperative relations with the Embassy of Slovakia in Hanoi, always closely coordinating and supporting each other in organizing many foreign reception activities of the two sides.

However, the organization and operation of the Association still have some limitations: The Association's potential has not been fully exploited; the combined strength of the Executive Committee and the large number of members has not been fully promoted.

Although there have been many efforts to diversify the Association's activities, the form and content of the Association's activities have not been much changed, especially the relationship with many partners in Slovakia has not been expanded. The age of the members is quite high while the number of young members is too small and they are not really attached to the Association's activities.

The main activities are still focused on foreign friendship, protocol, culture, information and propaganda; there are no specific contributions to promoting economic , trade, scientific, technological cooperation between the two countries as required to innovate the content of activities of Friendship Associations.

In addition, the activities of local member organizations of the Association are not even, have not created a stable source of income to proactively implement the Association's work, and the work of developing organizations and members has not made strong progress.

In the coming time, the activities of the Vietnam-Slovakia Friendship Association will be innovated according to the motto "proactive, flexible, creative, effective".

In addition to traditional friendship activities that need to be maintained, we need to expand activities in many fields with practical content; through people-to-people diplomacy channels, actively contribute to promoting the development of multifaceted relations between Vietnam and Slovakia.

At the Congress, the delegates elected the Executive Board, Standing Committee, Executive Committee and Inspection Committee of the Association for the 4th term. The delegates elected Mr. Le Quang Hung, former Deputy Minister of Construction, to hold the position of Chairman of the Vietnam-Slovakia Friendship Association for the 4th term.

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Le Quang Hung expressed his honor and awareness of the great responsibility in building and developing the Vietnam-Slovakia Friendship Association to be united and strong, contributing to promoting the cooperative relationship and friendship between the two countries.

With special affection for Slovakia, new President Le Quang Hung hopes to receive support and companionship from individuals and organizations in the Association's activities in the coming term.

Agreeing with the directions of activities in the 6th term proposed by the Association, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Giang shared some suggestions on the working direction of the Association:

One is to proactively develop programs and plans for the entire term. Continue to innovate the form and content of the Association's activities in accordance with the potential of the two countries and the advantages of people-to-people diplomacy, making a practical contribution to strengthening the relationship between Vietnam and Slovakia; expand the Association's strength, develop the network of local associations and branches, and focus on attracting the participation of young people and businesses.

Second, strengthen exchanges and coordination of activities with cultural, educational, economic, scientific and technical organizations, people's associations in Slovakia and friendship associations with Vietnam in European countries to consolidate and develop Vietnam's international network of partners and friends; promote the role of Vietnamese people in Slovakia in connecting partners, participating in people-to-people exchange activities to promote mutual understanding and cooperation between the people of Slovakia in particular and the people of European countries in general with Vietnam in all fields.

Third, focus on foreign information and propaganda work, apply information technology to more widely inform about Vietnam's foreign policy and achievements so that friends can clearly understand, support and accompany Vietnam at regional and international forums on issues of protecting and promoting human rights, issues of sovereignty over borders, territories, seas and islands...

VUFO leaders believe that under the leadership of the 4th Executive Committee, the Vietnam-Slovakia Friendship Association will achieve many new successes, actively contributing to promoting the good friendship and cooperation between the people of the two countries and people-to-people diplomacy.

These are Vietnamese citizens who have spent many years working with the people and the host country, and voluntarily participate in the Association's activities because they all wish to contribute to the consolidation and development of the traditional friendship and cooperation between the people of the two countries.

In addition to individual members, the Association also has 8 collective members, which are provincial and municipal associations in provinces and cities such as Hai Phong, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Hung Yen, Bac Giang, and Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition, there are Liaison Committees organized by course, school or major city of Slovakia such as: Bratislava, Kosice, ... gathering many former students and postgraduates who have studied and researched in Slovakia, organizing annual meetings and friendly exchanges.
