That was the comment of Mr. Pham Manh Hung - Deputy General Director of Voice of Vietnam (VOV) at the opening ceremony of the program "Promoting Sustainable Production - Consumption 2025" held in Hanoi on the evening of June 27.
VOV Deputy General Director commented that in the context of climate change, resource depletion and increasing global consumption pressure, sustainable production and consumption have become an inevitable requirement, not only to protect the planet, but also to enhance competitiveness, strengthen the position of businesses, build trust with consumers, and ensure national sustainable development goals.
"This is not just a trend, but also a commitment of deep ethical and social responsibility," Mr. Hung emphasized.
The "Promoting Sustainable Production and Consumption 2025" program is a practical activity to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation. At the same time, it concretizes the National Strategy on Green Growth for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, and the National Action Program on Sustainable Production and Consumption.
"The program is not only a media event, but also a connecting forum: connecting policy with practice, connecting businesses with consumers, connecting creativity with responsible consumer behavior," said Mr. Pham Manh Hung.
In that ecosystem, the media plays a key role. With the mission of a national press agency, Voice of Vietnam is committed to accompanying and leading the media to change social awareness about sustainable development.
"We determine that each newsletter, each topic, each discussion is not only an information product, but also a toolto educate the public, promote behavioral change, arouse social responsibility and spread the spirit of green consumption and smart consumption.
We are also deeply aware that to promote sustainable consumption, we cannot only put responsibility on the shoulders of manufacturers, but also need strong participation from consumers, press agencies and media workers.
Therefore, Voice of Vietnam not only accompanies in terms of content, but also proactively "greens" the thinking of journalism, prioritizing spreading inspirational stories about green innovation, circular economy, and environmentally friendly production models," Deputy General Director Pham Manh Hung emphasized.
At the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan also called for: "To make the journey towards sustainable production and consumption a reality, I call on stakeholders, from state management agencies, social organizations, business communities and media units, to work together to create conditions and closely accompany consumers.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade pledges to make continuous efforts to accompany and provide maximum support to businesses in transforming to sustainable production and business models, encourage research and application of green technologies, and raise public awareness of the importance of sustainable consumption.
We strongly believe that, together, we will build a greener, cleaner and more sustainable Vietnam for today's and future generations."
Also at the ceremony, Dr. Ta Dinh Thi - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment stated that climate change, resource depletion and environmental pollution are urgent issues that require the joint efforts of the whole society to solve.
In that context, the "green era" is no longer a distant concept but has become the ultimate goal and development orientation of each country, each business and each individual.
The National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment always pays special attention to the work of building, perfecting and supervising the implementation of policies and laws to promote the development of science and technology and environmental protection, including the key content of sustainable production and consumption.
"Attending today's program, I am pleased to see that the Exhibition is not only a place to display but also a lively forum for us to learn, exchange, and spread the good values of sustainable production and consumption. The Exhibition is also a clear demonstration, a concrete result of the common efforts of the whole society in promoting sustainable production and consumption.
I believe that through this Exhibition, people will have the opportunity to access more widely green products and services, thereby forming smart and responsible consumption habits. Businesses will also find potential partners and new ideas to develop production and business in a sustainable direction ," said Mr. Thi.
In order for sustainable consumption to truly become a norm in society and a strong driving force for sustainable production, Mr. Thi said he suggested that ministries and branches continue to strongly and more effectively implement preferential policies to encourage businesses to produce and trade sustainable products and services.
At the same time, strengthen inspection and supervision work, ensure transparency and responsibility throughout the supply chain, thereby concretizing the policies of the National Assembly.
Along with that, the business community is constantly proactive in innovating technology, researching and developing green products and services, building sustainable value chains, and minimizing negative impacts on the environment in all stages of production and business.
"More importantly, I think that every citizen should become a smart and responsible consumer. Let's start with the smallest actions in daily life: turn off the lights when not in use, save water, classify waste, limit plastic bags, and prioritize choosing sustainable and green products when consuming," Mr. Ta Dinh Thi emphasized.
