Ready to disburse preferential capital for science and technology students

Implementing Decision 29/2025/QD-TTg, dated August 28, 2025, on credit for students, master's students, and researchers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to cover tuition fees, living expenses, and other study expenses during their time studying science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, the Thai Nguyen Branch of the Bank for Social Policies is actively implementing, ensuring that eligible people have quick and timely access to capital.

According to the provisions of Decision 29/2025/QD-TTg, the maximum loan amount includes the entire tuition fee (after deducting scholarships and other support, if any) along with living and studying expenses of up to 5 million VND/month. The loan interest rate is applied at 4.8%/year, overdue debt is calculated at 130% of the loan interest rate. The loan term includes: Loan disbursement period, time from the date the learner finishes the course to the date the first loan repayment begins and the repayment term.

The Social Policy Bank conducts lending through households, with the household representative standing in the name of the transaction. In case the household has no members aged 18 or older or the remaining members are unable to work or do not have full civil capacity as prescribed by law, the student directly takes out a loan at the Social Policy Bank. With a loan amount of up to 500 million VND/person, the customer does not need collateral. If the loan exceeds 500 million VND, the borrower must ensure the debt repayment obligation as prescribed by law.

Thai Nguyen is currently one of the major educational centers of the Northern midland and mountainous region, with a diverse system of universities and colleges such as Thai Nguyen University and many specialized training facilities. In particular, the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) are being focused on development, meeting the demand for high-quality human resources in the period of industrialization and modernization.

However, to study these majors, students often have to invest a lot in tuition fees, practice equipment, research and living expenses. Therefore, the need to access preferential loans from banks, especially student credit programs, is increasing. Timely meeting the capital needs under this program not only helps students feel secure in their studies, but also contributes to training a skilled and knowledgeable workforce, serving the socio -economic development of Thai Nguyen and the whole country.
