Chat with Olympia "climber" in the final round

The final round of the Road to Olympia 2025 competition will take place on October 26. Among the 4 "climbers", Doan Thanh Tung - a 12th grade Biology student at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (Nam Nha Trang ward) is honored to be the representative of Khanh Hoa province to participate. Before Tung left for Hanoi to prepare for the competition, he shared with reporters of Khanh Hoa Newspaper and Radio and Television about his journey to conquer knowledge.

- Hi Tung! Preparing to enter the final round of Road to Olympia, how do you feel now?

- I feel quite comfortable now. Although I am a little nervous, I focus on balancing studying, playing and participating in activities to keep a positive spirit and not be under too much pressure before the exam day.

- Who motivates and inspires you the most?

- I think it was myself, along with the wholehearted support and the best conditions from the school, teachers, and family that gave me more motivation. Especially Mr. Nguyen Tran Khoi Nguyen - a former student of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (Nam Nha Trang), who participated in the quarter-finals of the Road to Olympia in 2023. He often shared and accompanied me throughout the past time. He told me to focus on resting and taking care of my health at this time to prepare for the competition in the best way. That helped me feel more confident and steadfast.

- So, what do you feel most confident about yourself?

- I think it's the ability to withstand pressure. I've talked to many contestants and found that many of them are very good, but because of a lack of concentration due to psychological problems, the results were not as expected. In the past few days, I've been reviewing my matches to learn from experience, review old knowledge, and learn new knowledge and update current news. The Road to Olympia is a playground that requires a wide range of knowledge and needs to be cultivated over a long period of time. At this time, I've put all my heart and soul into the final stage.

- How do you rate your chances in the final round, when all 3 remaining "climbers" are so excellent?

- You are all strong candidates. I will focus on improving myself and try to do my best in the competition. For me, Road to Olympia is a playground for experience and discovery . I think just try my best (laughs).

- So, what is the most special thing that the Road to Olympia playground brings to you?

- I had experiences that I had never had before: Being in the studio of Vietnam Television, interacting with many people, being cared for and known by everyone... In previous years, I always watched the Road to Olympia Finals with the mindset of an audience, never thinking that I would become a contestant in the final round. When Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (South Nha Trang) organized the Olympia Fire Competition, I participated and was chosen to represent the school in the Road to Olympia Competition, successively passing the weekly, monthly and quarterly rounds. I still remember that in the afternoon before the quarterly round, I was a bit tired and weak, so the results of the warm-up round were not good. But thanks to everyone's encouragement, I tried to turn the tide and won a ticket to the final round.

- In Khanh Hoa , many people are following, cheering and have high expectations for you in this playground. Do you have anything you want to share with those who are interested in you?

- During the preparation for the competition, I received a lot of support from my family, school, teachers, brothers and sisters, and friends. Everyone gave me a lot of love, gifts, wishes, and encouragement. My family created the best conditions for me to focus on studying and reviewing. Being a part of the Road to Olympia and representing Khanh Hoa province students to participate in the final round, I feel extremely lucky and honored. Although the past journey was not long, it brought me a lot of valuable knowledge, experience, and skills. I hope that in the final sprint, I will complete this journey in the most complete way, bringing joy and pride to my family, school, and hometown.
