Accordingly, at 8:00 AM on the same day, the reservoir water level reached nearly 61.4m, with an inflow of over 1,800 m³/second, while the downstream water level at the power plant was only 5.1m. To ensure flood control capacity, from 1:00 PM on October 2nd, the company increased the discharge through the spillway to 640 m³/second, double the current discharge level; the flow through the power generation turbines reached 750-820 m³/second. The total amount of water discharged downstream was 1,390-1,460 m³/second.
The Tri An Hydropower Company stated that, depending on weather conditions, the amount of water flowing into the reservoir, and the downstream water level at the Bien Hoa Hydrological Station, the company will continue to adjust the discharge flow.
Therefore, the company notified the Civil Defense Committees at all levels and local authorities to promptly direct and inform the people in the downstream areas to proactively prevent and avoid damage.
Earlier, at 13:00 on September 30th, the Tri An Hydropower Plant released water at an initial flow rate of 160 m³/second, which was then increased to 320 m³/second at 16:00 on the same day.
