Reading the eulogy at the memorial service, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy said that Professor Phan Luong Cam was a person who devoted her whole life to the cause of science and technology. Throughout her life, she was a person who was passionate about her work and completed the assigned tasks.

She was a dedicated, lovable leader and an exemplary aunt. Professor Phan Luong Cam, wife of the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet, was born in 1943 in Hue City. In 1968, she was sent by the State to do research at Moscow State University (MV Lomonosov University), the former Soviet Union.
After successfully defending her doctoral thesis in electrochemistry and metal corrosion, in early 1973, she returned to Vietnam and continued teaching and research at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
She was the first female professor of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the founder and Director of the Center for Corrosion and Metal Protection Research, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (now Hanoi University of Science and Technology) from 1996 to 2008, when she retired.

Professor Phan Luong Cam was also one of the founders and first president of the Vietnam Association of Corrosion and Metal Protection Science and Technology (before her death, she was the honorary president of the association). With this event, for the first time, a Vietnamese science and technology association has a female president.
Professor Phan Luong Cam was also the President of the Asia-Pacific Association of Materials and Corrosion for the 1999-2001 term, President of the 11th Asia-Pacific International Corrosion Conference held in Ho Chi Minh City in 1999, and a member of the international advisory board of many other Asia-Pacific international corrosion conferences.
After the funeral, the coffin of Professor Phan Luong Cam will be buried at Ho Chi Minh City Cemetery in the morning of the same day.

For her achievements as a female scientist, Professor Phan Luong Cam was awarded the Kovalevskaia Prize in 1995. She was awarded the Labor Medal and many medals and certificates of merit. She passed away on April 9, at the age of 82.
