Exam support

(NLDO) - In the 25 years of organizing the program "Supporting exam season", more than 5 million candidates and parents from the provinces have come to Ho Chi Minh City to take university and college entrance exams, and national high school exams and have been consulted and supported.

On the morning of November 11, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union - Vietnam Student Association, Ho Chi Minh City Student Support Center, in coordination with Thien Long Group, organized the 25th Anniversary of the University and College Entrance Exam Candidate Support Program; 20 years of the "Exam Support" Program and the summary of the "Exam Support" Program in 2021.

Starting in 1997 at the Eastern Bus Station, the University and College Entrance Exam Candidate Support Program organized activities to welcome candidates at major bus stations, provide directions... Each year, many other activities were added such as: Organizing teams to welcome and advise candidates at bus stations and train stations; supporting candidates at lodging places; organizing a team of vehicles to transport candidates; a logistics team, preparing free meals...

In 2001, the program was officially named "Supporting the Exam Season". In 2002, realizing the program's influence and humanistic value, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association expanded the model nationwide. Student volunteers are always present at all bus stations, train stations, bus stops, universities and colleges, and important traffic intersections. Thanks to that, the pressure on candidates and their families during the university and college entrance exams in Ho Chi Minh City was significantly reduced.

Since 2015, the Ministry of Education and Training has fundamentally and comprehensively changed the high school exam and university and college entrance exams, with the exams being held right at the candidates' place of residence. However, the application stage for universities and colleges continues to focus candidates on major cities. The "Supporting the exam season" program continues to support candidates participating in the national high school exam with the following contents: pre-exam review consultation, exam season psychological consultation, organizing a team to support candidates at exam locations, supporting free meals and drinks, supporting candidates in taking the competency assessment exam and completing admission procedures, changing wishes and the admission process to universities and colleges...

Award certificates of merit to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements

In particular, in 2020 and 2021, the Covid-19 epidemic situation was complicated in Ho Chi Minh City. In addition to supporting candidates at exam sites, volunteer teams directly participated in disease control and prevention activities right at exam sites. Coordinate with local response forces, union members in wards and districts to support candidates and their families to strictly implement social distancing, strengthen measures to support candidates to participate in the exam safely... coordinate to handle health emergencies of candidates and volunteer students.

Awarding scholarships to students in difficult circumstances

After the high school graduation exam ended, the volunteer teams continued to participate in epidemic prevention support activities such as: operating the "0 Dong Mini Supermarket", participating in the volunteer vehicle team to support packaging and transporting gifts of necessities, handing them to students at boarding houses in the city, participating in drug classification and transporting F0 medicine bags for Covid-19 patients with mild or asymptomatic symptoms for treatment at home.

Awarding certificates of merit to individuals with outstanding achievements

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Student Support Center, during 25 years of implementation, the program has received the participation of more than 1.2 million volunteer students, welcoming, advising, and supporting more than 5 million candidates and parents from the provinces coming to the city to take university and college entrance exams, accessing and participating in the National High School Exams; 3,415,000 sets of maps and handbooks; 485,000 free bus tickets... and thousands of scholarships for disadvantaged candidates with a total value of tens of billions of VND.
