On the morning of November 11th, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union - Vietnam Student Association, the Ho Chi Minh City Student Support Center, in coordination with Thien Long Group, organized a ceremony to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the University and College Entrance Exam Support Program; the 20th anniversary of the "Exam Support Program" and to summarize the "Exam Support Program" in 2021.
Starting in 1997 at the Eastern Bus Station, the University and College Entrance Exam Support Program organized activities to welcome candidates at major bus stations, provide directions, etc. Each year, many additional activities were added, such as: organizing teams to welcome and advise candidates at bus and train stations; assisting candidates at accommodation locations; organizing transportation for candidates; providing logistics and preparing free meals…
In 2001, the program was officially named "Supporting Students During Exams". In 2002, recognizing the program's widespread impact and humanitarian value, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Union expanded the model nationwide. Student volunteers were stationed at all bus stations, train stations, bus stops, universities and colleges, and important traffic junctions. As a result, the pressure on candidates and their families during the university and college entrance exams in Ho Chi Minh City was significantly reduced.
Since 2015, the Ministry of Education and Training has fundamentally and comprehensively reformed the high school graduation exam and university/college entrance exams, now holding the exams in the candidates' places of residence. However, the application period for universities and colleges continues to concentrate candidates in major cities. The "Exam Support Program" continues to support candidates participating in the national high school graduation exam with the following contents: pre-exam study advice, exam season psychological counseling, organizing support teams at exam sites, providing free meals and drinks, assisting candidates in participating in the aptitude test and completing application procedures, changing preferences and the enrollment process at universities and colleges...
Awards and certificates of merit were presented to individuals and groups who achieved outstanding results.
In particular, in 2020 and 2021, the Covid-19 pandemic situation was complex in Ho Chi Minh City. Besides supporting candidates at examination sites, volunteer teams directly participated in disease control and prevention activities at these sites. They coordinated with local response forces and youth union members in their wards and districts to support candidates and their families in strictly adhering to social distancing guidelines, enhancing measures to ensure candidates' safe participation in the exams, and coordinating the handling of health emergencies among candidates and volunteer students.
Awarding scholarships to students in difficult circumstances
After the high school graduation exams ended, volunteer teams continued to participate in activities supporting epidemic prevention and control, such as: operating "Zero-Cost Mini Supermarkets," participating in volunteer vehicle teams to assist in packaging and transporting gifts of essential goods, delivering them directly to students at their dormitories in the city, and participating in sorting and transporting F0 medication bags for Covid-19 patients with mild or no symptoms who are being treated at home.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Student Support Center, over the 25 years of its implementation, the program has received the participation of more than 1.2 million student volunteers, welcoming, advising, and supporting more than 5 million candidates and parents from other provinces who came to the city to take university and college entrance exams, and during the National High School Graduation Exams; 3,415,000 sets of maps and handbooks; 485,000 free bus tickets... and thousands of scholarships for disadvantaged candidates with a total value of tens of billions of VND.
