The world-renowned culinary guide Taste Atlas has just published its list of the 100 worst foods in the world for 2025, attracting attention from the culinary community. A food website describes Vietnamese blood pudding as being made from fresh animal blood mixed with a broth mixture of fish sauce, spices, meat, etc., and then left to solidify. When solidified, blood pudding resembles a thick, chewy pudding, and is usually served with crushed roasted peanuts, herbs, and basil.
This is a traditional dish, often prepared on special occasions. It's controversial due to the risk of consuming bacteria from raw food, yet many people still enjoy blood pudding in Vietnam.
According to Taste Atlas data, the rankings are based on the results of nearly 400,000 votes from thousands of experts, customers, and chefs. Ratings are calculated in stars, with 5 stars being the highest rating. The lower the star rating, the worse the food is considered.
Reportedly, this is not the first time Vietnamese blood pudding has been on the list of dishes that international tourists rate worst. Previously, in March 2024, blood pudding ranked second in the top 45 worst dishes in Vietnam, while mung bean cake ranked first.
In the list of the 100 worst foods in the world in 2025, Finnish blodpalt tops the list with 1.6 stars. This traditional dumpling from the "happiest country in the world" is dark brown and made from rye flour and animal blood.
