Revealing the structure of the Literature exam

On the morning of June 10, the entrance exam for grade 10 in Hanoi began with Literature. This is the main subject and makes many students feel pressured.

The structure of the Literature exam in Hanoi consists of 2 parts. Part I includes reading and understanding texts in textbooks and creating literary argumentative paragraphs (argumentative essays about poems and argumentative essays about stories). This part accounts for about 60-70% of the total score.

According to teachers, this is the test that requires students to master the knowledge they have learned and the skills to create argumentative paragraphs about poems and stories that they have practiced every day.

Besides that, there are reading comprehension skills and answering reading comprehension questions about the author, the context of the composition, the meaning of the title, the story situation, the narrator, the characters, the emotional flow of the poem, rhetorical devices, artistic details, etc.

Part II accounts for 30-40% of the required score, requiring reading comprehension of texts outside of textbooks and creating social argumentative paragraphs.

This is the part that requires students to have good reading comprehension skills because with the text that students have never encountered before, in addition to reading comprehension questions about the text's expression method, topic, sentence connections, explanation of details... there is a requirement to write a social argumentative paragraph (ideology or life phenomenon), in the form of direct or indirect questions (opinions, statements, comments...).
