In the last week of September and early October 2025, Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II became a bright spot on the border trade map, recording extremely impressive import-export and budget revenue results. This strong growth not only affirms Lao Cai 's position as a strategic trade gateway, but is also a positive and meaningful achievement, welcoming the success of the 1st Lao Cai Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030.

Impressive results
In recent days, the working atmosphere at Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II (Kim Thanh Border Gate) has been extremely urgent and busy. Trucks carrying goods have been moving one after another through the control area, reflecting that the supply chain is operating at full capacity to meet the increasing market demand.
According to the weekly summary report (from September 25 to October 1, 2025), the total value of imported and exported goods reached 52.5 million USD, maintaining an increase of 1% compared to the previous week. Accumulated from the beginning of the year until now, the total value of imported and exported goods through the border gate has reached an impressive milestone of 1.58 billion USD, demonstrating sustainable economic efficiency and the strong recovery of border trade.
Taking a deeper look at the import-export structure this week, a notable highlight is the breakthrough growth in import activities. Although the total import-export value increased by only 1%, the import turnover soared by 27%, reaching 26.55 million USD. This growth played a key role in boosting the total trade value.

The sharp increase in import turnover shows that domestic demand for goods from China is very large, especially essential goods for production and daily life.
Specifically, the main imported items include: vegetables, fruits of all kinds (meeting the need to diversify food supply), fertilizers of all kinds (serving domestic agricultural production), confectionery (anticipating holidays and Tet) and other important items such as chemicals, machinery and equipment. The increase in machinery and equipment imports is also a positive signal for investment and production expansion.
Regarding exports, although the turnover decreased slightly compared to the previous week (reaching 23.37 million USD), Vietnam's key agricultural products still play an important role, including: dragon fruit, cassava, durian and various types of wood. These are high-quality products and are favored by the Chinese market, contributing to ensuring the output of Vietnamese agricultural products.
Besides the two main types, other types of import and export activities also recorded a growth of 15%, reaching 2.57 million USD. This shows the diversity and flexibility of trading forms at Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II.
Mr. Vuong Trinh Quoc, Head of the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, shared: In late September and early October, the volume of imported and exported goods through Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II increased sharply, and the number of vehicles entering and exiting the country also increased dramatically.
The most impressive result this week was the revenue from border gate activities to the state budget.
Total tax and fee revenue reached 42.68 billion VND, a sharp increase of 26% compared to the previous week. This is a record number, showing that the bustling trade activities have directly transformed into a solid financial resource for the province. Of this, tax and fee revenue collected by the customs sector reached 38.59 billion VND, an increase of 31% compared to the previous week, affirming the capacity to manage and effectively exploit revenue sources at Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II.
Efforts from many sides

The increase in income from import-export activities is not only a simple economic indicator but also a clear demonstration of the development of border trade economy associated with social benefits, creating conditions for Lao Cai province to have more resources to invest in infrastructure, social security and proposed strategic development programs.
Explaining the heat of trade at Kim Thanh Lao Cai International Border Gate No. II, Mr. Quyen Sinh Tu, Deputy Head of Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs, said: It is the agricultural season and the end of the year, so the demand for import and export of agricultural products and some other goods has increased.
In particular, on this occasion, the demand for agricultural products, fruits, and candies for the Mid-Autumn Festival is higher than other occasions, so in recent days, the volume of imported and exported goods has increased. We have proactively arranged civil servants to handle customs procedures to release goods, creating conditions for the fastest import and export activities of businesses, avoiding congestion.
Despite the high volume of import and export goods, customs management and clearance at Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II are still maintained in an orderly and smooth manner. This is the result of close coordination between inter-sectoral forces.
Mr. Vuong Trinh Quoc, Head of the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, said: The Provincial Economic Zone Management Board and other forces have proactively proposed solutions to divert traffic so that vehicles do not get stuck or congested at the border gate area.
Currently, Kim Thanh Border Gate is effectively operating a 5-lane system, including 2 exit lanes and 3 entry lanes. This system, combined with the flexible vehicle regulation work of the border guards, is the key to solving the congestion problem.

Regarding security and order, Captain Nguyen Viet Dung, Deputy Head of Border Guard Station of International Road Border Gate No. II (Kim Thanh) said: To ensure security and order and avoid congestion at the Border Gate area, we have made plans and assigned specific tasks to each comrade in charge of positions, especially key routes.
The impressive results in trade and budget revenue at Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II in recent times are vivid proof of the efforts of the entire political system and business community, and are clear evidence of the recovery and sustainable economic development of Lao Cai.
