Judge orders removal of Trump's name from Kennedy Center.

A federal judge in the US has ruled that changing the name of the Kennedy Center for the Arts to the Trump Kennedy Center is illegal and should be reverted to its original name.

"The court concluded that the board of directors exceeded its statutory authority when it unilaterally renamed the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts after President Donald Trump," Judge Christopher Cooper in Washington stated.

In response to the ruling, Trump announced he would withdraw the renovation plan and return control of the Kennedy Center to the U.S. Congress .

On the social media platform Truth Social, he wrote: "If I am not free to do what I do better than anyone else – which is to revitalize this organization physically, financially, and artistically – then I have no interest in continuing a hopeless journey to 'Utopia'."

Ukraine claims to have attacked a key Russian electronic intelligence facility.

The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) announced that its Alpha task force used long-range drones to destroy a key electronic intelligence center of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) in the Krasnodar region. Simultaneously, the agency launched an attack deep into Russian territory aimed at undermining Moscow's recent offensive against Ukrainian cities.

According to a statement posted by the SBU on Telegram, the target of the operation was an FSB facility located in the Temryuk district, near the Black Sea coast. The SBU stated that this location was used to gather intelligence and support the deployment of missile and drone attacks against Ukraine.

"Such special operations are strategically important because they weaken Russia's ability to control airspace, coordinate air defense systems, and conduct attacks against Ukraine. Disabling electronic intelligence centers opens new opportunities for Ukrainian UAVs, while making it more difficult for Russia to protect military facilities deep in its rear," the agency emphasized.

According to the SBU statement, the attack struck several buildings and antenna clusters belonging to the FSB's signal intelligence center. This facility is responsible for collecting and intercepting communications and supporting Russian military operations against Ukraine.

Iran prepares for national mourning for Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

According to Iranian state media, officials are planning a large-scale state funeral for the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed in the first US and Israeli airstrikes on February 28. Funeral plans had been delayed for months due to the ongoing conflict between Iran and the US and Israel.

The date for the funeral has not yet been announced. However, Iranian state television quoted Mohsen Mahmoudi, chairman of the Tehran Islamic Propaganda Coordination Council, as saying that "a special body has been established to handle the funeral arrangements. Many agencies are currently developing plans and making arrangements."

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who led Iran for over 30 years, was killed in the first wave of attacks by the US and Israel on February 28, marking the beginning of the war between the two sides.

In April, Iran held a memorial service for Khamenei. However, the official state funeral had to be postponed due to the ongoing fighting.

Putin rejects accusations of conflict with Europe.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said his statement on May 9th about the possibility of the war in Ukraine nearing its end was based on an assessment of the progress the Russian military has made on the battlefield.

However, Putin did not give any specific timeframe for when the conflict would end. The Russian leader also rejected accusations that Moscow was preparing for a war with Europe, calling them "fabricated" information.

He also criticized how Western media reported on the Ukrainian drone attack on a student dormitory in the Russian-controlled city of Luhansk. According to Moscow, the incident killed 21 people. The Russian president said Western media should feel "ashamed" of how they portrayed the event.

Following a meeting with senior military commanders, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv is continuing to pursue goals aimed at undermining Russia's conflict-fighting capabilities, including long-range strikes targeting objectives related to Russia's oil industry.

Iran rejects Trump's claims of a peace deal.

US President Donald Trump said he could approve a peace deal with Iran as early as Friday. The deal is expected to include significant concessions from Tehran, such as opening the Strait of Hormuz and abandoning its nuclear program. However, senior Iranian officials insist the two sides have not yet reached a final agreement.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Washington and Tehran are still in contact, but an agreement between the two countries has not yet been finalized.

"Regarding the agreement, as I mentioned earlier, the parties are still in discussions, but so far no final agreement has been reached," he said.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said he had discussed with his Omani counterpart "how to manage the future of the Strait of Hormuz, in accordance with each side's sovereignty and international law." This statement is seen as a signal that Tehran is unlikely to accept the full opening of this strategic waterway under the mechanism that was in place before the conflict broke out.

An unnamed White House official said: "The meeting in the Situation Room concluded and lasted about two hours. President Trump will only accept a deal that benefits the United States and meets the red lines he has set. Iran can never possess nuclear weapons."
