Coco Gauff shows class on clay court

American tennis player Coco Gauff continued her impressive performance on clay when she defeated defending champion Iga Swiatek 2-0 (6-1, 6-1) after 64 minutes, to advance straight to the final of the Madrid Open 2025.

This is Coco Gauff's fourth win in 15 matches against Swiatek. She will face world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka or Elina Svitolina in the final.

Coco Gauff shared in an on-court interview: "The previous times I played on clay, I never won against Swiatek. She is a different player on clay. But clay is also one of my good surfaces.

I think if I can beat her on hard court, I can beat her on clay. I feel great about this win."

The Football Association (FA) has announced that it will ban transgender players from playing in women's football from next season. The decision comes into effect on June 1.

The move comes after the UK Supreme Court controversially ruled that only “biological” women, not transgender women, meet the definition of woman under equality law.

The ruling has been welcomed by the government as it brings clarity to the sport , particularly women's football. The FA said in a statement: "As the national governing body of the sport, our role is to make football accessible to as many people as possible, while operating within the international football laws and policies set out by UEFA and FIFA.

Following the Supreme Court ruling, we have decided that transgender women will no longer be able to play women's football in England and this policy will come into effect from 1 June 2025."

Man City midfielder Rodri has returned to training for the first time since suffering a serious knee injury in September 2024.

The Spaniard's absence following anterior cruciate ligament surgery is seen as a major reason why Man City's bid for a fifth successive Premier League title has collapsed.

Coach Guardiola also said that Norwegian striker Erling Haaland has returned to training. He has not played since March 30 due to an ankle injury. The return of these two stars is a good sign for Man City.
