According to the VNA correspondent in Prague, in the solemn and artistic setting of the Imperial Citadel Event Center in Prague, the special art program "The Quintessence of Vietnamese Culture," staged and performed by the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theatre, officially opened on the evening of June 26.

This event marks the beginning of a series of key activities to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic (1950–2025).

As a highlight of this year's cultural diplomacy journey, the program is not just an artistic performance, but also a bridge between two cultures, between tradition and modernity, between the past and the future. From there, it contributes to honoring the deep and enduring friendship between the two countries that has lasted for three-quarters of a century.

With meticulous investment in both content and artistic expression, "The Quintessence of Vietnamese Culture" has taken Czech audiences, the international community, and Vietnamese expatriates in the Czech Republic on an emotionally rich artistic journey, exploring the rich beauty of Vietnam - from its breathtaking natural landscapes and thousand-year history to the cultural diversity of its 54 ethnic groups living together in the S-shaped country.

Traditional folk music is celebrated through instruments such as the bầu lute, nhị fiddle, t'rưng, bamboo flute, and tỳ bà lute... Combined with a modern staging style and sophisticated orchestration, the program creates a harmonious blend of national spirit and contemporary flair.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Mr. Duong Hoai Nam, affirmed, “2025 will be a historic milestone in bilateral relations as Vietnam and the Czech Republic celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and officially upgrade to a Strategic Partnership. This is an important step, demonstrating the depth of the strong relationship based on culture, trust, and affection between the two nations.”

The Ambassador also expressed gratitude to the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, numbering over 100,000 people – "cultural ambassadors" who have persistently contributed to preserving Vietnamese identity and enriching the friendly relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic over many generations.

Representing the host country, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic David Kašpar expressed his emotion and pride that Czech culture - from music , literature, and cinema - has found a place in the hearts of Vietnamese friends.

The Deputy Minister further emphasized that programs like the "Essence of Vietnamese Culture" art program are vivid evidence of the exchange, understanding, and mutual respect between the two cultures.

Sharing the same sentiment, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, Mr. Ho An Phong, highly appreciated the significance of the event: “Today's program is a wonderful convergence of artistic souls. The melodious sound of the Vietnamese zither blends with classical European melodies, creating a symphony of friendship, where art transcends geographical and linguistic boundaries to touch people's hearts.”

More than just a standalone performance, "The Quintessence of Vietnamese Culture" is an important part of the Vietnamese Culture and Tourism Days in the Czech Republic.

The series of events, including cultural exhibitions, tourism promotion, and community exchanges, not only contributes to strengthening the bond between the people of the two countries but also opens up new prospects for cooperation in the fields of culture, arts, and tourism in this era of deep integration.
