Tourism and leisure activities during the 4-day New Year's holiday in 2026 were bustling across all three regions of Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc, Ha Giang, Da Lat, Mang Den, Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang… were among the popular destinations.
During the holiday period, the entire tourism industry is estimated to welcome and serve approximately 3.5 million visitors. Southern tourists continue to show interest in trips to the North and coastal resorts.
Tourists from the North choose to explore the Northwest mountainous region to enjoy the winter season, or travel south to sunny coastal areas like Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, and Con Dao…
For inbound tourism, the New Year holiday is the peak travel season of the year, so the number of international visitors continues to grow strongly, mainly from markets such as China, South Korea, the United States, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore…

According to the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, the trend in choosing destinations for the 2026 New Year holiday shows that domestic tourism remains the mainstay, while international tourism tends to be more selective, prioritizing nearby, easily accessible destinations that suit shorter timeframes.
Tourists are willing to pay more for personalized, experience-based itineraries rather than mass-produced tours during the 2026 New Year holiday. This also signals that Vietnamese people's travel consumption behavior is becoming increasingly practical, prioritizing quality and experiences.
The New Year's holiday is considered an important "warm-up" for the peak tourist season in early 2026.
Alongside this, the number of international tourists continues to grow, demonstrating the effectiveness of the new visa policy and efforts in product development and promotion.
These are positive signs for the industry's goal of welcoming 25 million international visitors, serving 150 million domestic tourists, and generating total tourism revenue of approximately 1,125 trillion VND by 2026.
