To ensure food safety during the Lunar New Year and the Spring Festival 2024, serving people to celebrate Tet safely and healthily; at the same time, ensuring development and healthy competition among food production, processing, trading, import and export establishments, the Central Interdisciplinary Steering Committee on Food Safety has deployed the Plan to ensure food safety during the Lunar New Year and the Spring Festival 2024.
The objective of the Plan is to ensure food safety in the production, processing, trading and use of food; strengthen control and promptly prevent the production and trading of fake and poor quality food; ensure consumer rights; prevent food poisoning during the Lunar New Year and the Spring Festival 2024.
In particular, minimizing food poisoning cases during the Lunar New Year and Spring Festival 2024. Strengthening inter-sectoral inspection and examination from the central to communal levels, focusing on product groups consumed a lot during Tet and Festivals with high risk factors, food processing villages, provinces with border gates, and major cities. Implementation period from December 20, 2023 to March 20, 2024 nationwide.
Mobilize all resources, all forms, and appropriate media to disseminate food safety regulations and food safety knowledge. Mobilize the whole society to participate in preventing and combating the production and trading of fake and poor quality food; prevent food poisoning, promptly warn of food safety risks before, during and after Tet, as well as the 2024 Spring Festival season.
At the central level, the Central Steering Committee for Food Safety and in coordination with ministries and branches established 5 interdisciplinary inspection teams to conduct inspections in 10 provinces and cities: Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Kon Tum , Gia Lai, Thai Nguyen, Bac Kan. The inspection teams focused on key products used during the Lunar New Year and festivals such as meat and meat products, beer, wine, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, cakes, jams, candies, vegetables, tubers, fruits, food additives, etc.; and food service establishments. Focus on controlling production and import hubs, wholesale markets, trade centers, supermarkets, traditional markets, slaughterhouses, and food transportation; At the same time, strictly control smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, goods that do not guarantee quality, are expired, and have unknown origin.
At the local level: Establish interdisciplinary inspection teams at all levels, from provincial to communal levels. Proactively conduct inspections before, during and after Tet and festivals depending on the characteristics and conditions of each locality from December 20, 2023 to March 20, 2024.
