Eastern artists are not afraid to push their limits and shine in challenging performances.

Having dedicated 18 years to the circus, Phuong Dong has taken on dozens of leading roles, leaving her mark through many highly challenging acts and winning numerous awards at national and international circus festivals. In the early stages of her career, Phuong Dong suffered a broken arm after falling from a height. Alongside this, she faced a series of arduous challenges during training. Despite all the hardships, Phuong Dong did not abandon her love for the circus. After recovering, she became even more determined in her choice. "Overcoming my fear, I understood that if I chose the circus, I had to accept the harsh trials," Phuong Dong confided.

Stepping onto the international stage, the Vietnamese flag in her hand motivates Phuong Dong to compete wholeheartedly, creating a milestone in her career. At home, the moments she gets to travel to remote border regions and islands to serve the soldiers and civilians in these harsh environments are a source of happiness for her. Phuong Dong is always concerned about the future of Vietnamese circus. There was a time when circus was considered a niche art form, gradually becoming outdated in the eyes of younger audiences. Recently, with innovative performances like "The Mysterious Land" becoming a sensation, many people have started paying attention to the circus. Phuong Dong and her colleagues feel empowered to confidently deliver spectacular performances that reflect the spirit of the times.

Meritorious Artist Lê Ích Diễn - Director of the Southern Arts Theatre - always expresses his respect, affection, and admiration for young people who are dedicated to professional circus activities like Phương Đông. "It's gratifying that young people not only inherit the good aspects but also bring new colors to Vietnamese circus. Alongside producing full-length circus shows with scripts, the theatre continues to invest in individual circus acts to develop the talents of each person," added Meritorious Artist Lê Ích Diễn.

Despite achieving certain successes, Phuong Dong does not allow herself to become complacent, but instead strives to improve her skills. She also constantly seeks opportunities to exchange ideas and learn from countries that are highly developed in this field. She believes that the appeal of a performance comes not only from the special effects or the grandeur of the staging, but most importantly from the dedication of the performer. "I live with circus through passion, dedicating myself wholeheartedly and respecting the audience. Only by loving the profession can I keep the flame alive and inspire the next generation," she confided.
