Summary of hybrid rice and high-quality purebred rice models

Delegates visited a model of high-quality rice cultivation in Trang Da commune ( Tuyen Quang city).

After 4 months of trial planting, the new rice variety showed rapid growth, vigorous development, good tillering, concentrated flowering, large, long panicles with many bright yellow grains; good resistance to adverse weather conditions, pests and diseases, especially dangerous pests such as leaf roller, stem borer, and brown planthopper... The rice quality is good, so the selling price is 500 VND/kg higher than the control variety, yielding an income of nearly 2.7-2.8 million VND/sao, with a profit of nearly 1 million VND/sao after deducting costs (equivalent to about 21-25 million VND/ha).

The success of this model will help the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to supplement the province's crop variety structure for planting in future seasons, gradually replacing rice varieties that have degenerated and have low yield and quality.
