Reuters news agency quoted the White House as saying that on April 23, President Trump signed executive orders related to education, such as improving vocational training without a college degree, tightening university accreditation standards, promoting artificial intelligence (AI) capacity, etc.

In particular, the executive order calling for improved job training for skilled trades is an initiative in the effort to revive American manufacturing.

President Trump also directed agencies to focus on job needs in emerging industries, including those using artificial intelligence, with a goal of supporting more than 1 million apprenticeship programs each year.

The new order aims to shift U.S. government agencies away from supporting only professional jobs that colleges and universities produce, and toward supporting skilled trades, such as electricians, mechanics and nursing assistants — jobs that require specialized training but don't require a college degree.

"After years of funneling Americans into an economically inefficient postsecondary system (college and university), America will refocus them on vocational training. Our goal is to create high-paying jobs," said the 47th president.

President Trump also signed an executive order tightening accreditation standards for universities, citing federal subsidies going to "institutions that do not provide a quality education."

Education Minister Linda McMahon has been given responsibility for overseeing schools, holding them accountable for "poor performance" and civil rights violations.

In addition, Ms. McMahon and Attorney General Pam Bondi must investigate and take action against illegal discrimination by American universities.

Several other executive orders signed on April 23 required universities to disclose what large foreign gifts they received, amid Mr. Trump’s concerns about foreign influence at American universities;

Call for integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the curriculum from kindergarten to grade 12, to build a workforce capable of using and developing this technology.
