The future of captain Son Heung-min at Tottenham Hotspur is becoming a hot topic as the club considers a £15 million offer from Major League Soccer (MLS) club Los Angeles FC (LAFC).
The 33-year-old South Korean star is a transfer target for the American team, raising questions about his position in North London.

According to SunSport , Tottenham may be willing to accept a fee of between £15 million and £20 million, with LAFC reportedly leading the race to sign Son Heung-min. However, the deal still depends on whether the MLS club agrees to meet the transfer conditions, as well as Son Heung-min's personal decision. The South Korean player is still considering whether to leave or continue his commitment to Spurs to fight for a starting place under new manager Thomas Frank.
Son Heung-min is currently in talks with all parties involved. However, any transfer move is unlikely to happen immediately, as he is highly probable to participate in Tottenham's pre-season tour of Asia.
Notably, Spurs could suffer financial losses if they sell Son Heung-min before the match against Newcastle in Seoul on August 3rd. According to the terms of the tour contract, if Son Heung-min does not play, Tottenham will lose up to 75% of the fee they receive from the tour organizer. Even if Son Heung-min travels with the team but does not play, Spurs will still lose half of the fee.
This is the main reason why the Tottenham board is carefully considering when to make a decision.
Son Heung-min is considered an icon of Asian football and a star with immense appeal in his home country of South Korea as well as across the continent. Last season, he scored 7 goals and provided 9 assists in 30 Premier League appearances, and became the first Spurs captain to lift the trophy since 2008, when he won the title under manager Ange Postecoglou.
Manager Thomas Frank has spoken about Son's future, stating he would be happy if the South Korean captain stayed. "Currently, I have a player who is completely committed and trains very well," he shared. "If a player has been with the club for a long time, then the club must also make decisions that are appropriate to the situation."
In terms of transfers, Spurs have been quite active, successfully signing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, making Mathys Tel's loan permanent, and bringing in young talents like Kato Takai (Japan) and Luka Vuskovic (Hajduk Split). However, Nottingham Forest's pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White is currently stalled, after Forest accused Tottenham of "illegal approach," despite Spurs activating his £60 million release clause.
Son Heung-min's future is currently the focus of media and fan attention, as Tottenham must balance financial, sporting , and global image considerations.
